5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent work April 5, 2012
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
While one can certainly hear the influence Oscar Peterson - and who wouldn't want to - this album and Taurey Butler stand on their own. A nice balance of swing and ballads gives us a solid introduction on this debut work. Some tracks are more mature than others, but all are solid and worth returning to over and over. Track 1 'Sunrise, Sunset' is very tight and demonstrates clear passion, skill and whatever it is that simply makes a piece great. If you like Oscar Peterson or Ray Brown - I can highly recommend this work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not just a clone ... December 9, 2011
Format:Audio CD
Taurey is not just a clone of Oscar ... he's his own man with a brilliant and infectious style of playing. Saw Taurey live at The House Of Jazz in Montreal last year and this CD is worth the wait. Aussie Mel, Brisbane, Australia.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great jazz pianst November 10, 2011
Format:Audio CD
What a fantastic CD. I have seen Taurey perform in person. He is a highly competent jazz pianst. Waiting for him to come to the states. But if you are in Montreal, make it a point to stop in at the House of Jazz on Thursdays, Fridays or Saturdays.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful CD February 18, 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Taurey Butler has put together a great album that I can't listen to enough. He often starts with standards and then meanders off in his creative way to magical passages. He is also a true virtuoso at the keyboard. One of the best jazz CD's I own.
