Review By a Philippine Nena Fan Who Understands German,
By Glenn Garfield Ang "Glenn" (San Juan, Metropolitan Manila Philippines) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tausend Sterne (Audio CD)
This is the fourth Nena traditional German folk songs album and its main objective is to provide songs for sleeping and dreaming. Although there are several song titles on this album which have appeared in either the first or the second of Nena's traditional German folk songs albums( i.e. KOMM, LIEBER MAI and UNSER APFELHAUS, respectively ), all of the tracks here are new. The new versions of the previous song titles are very distinct, not only in the manner in which they are performed, but because they also include more stanzas of the traditional German folk songs in some cases. Furthermore, there are six songs which have never been released by Nena before this album( i.e. "La Le Lu", "Kleine Taschenlampe brenn'", "Alles still", "Kindlein mein", "Abendstille", and "Nun ruhen alle Waelder" ). Please take note that the final track which contains the song "Der Mond ist aufgegangen" also includes an additional short song after it which might be entitled "Muede bin ich geh zur Ruh". Hence, for those of you who should decide to purchase this cd album, please let the final track complete itself and you will be able to enjoy that little bonus added by Nena. I have listened to this album only a few days ago and really enjoyed it, without necessarily having to fall asleep, for it is also wonderful for easy listening. It has a very calming effect and the combination of Nena's wonderful voice and the musical arrangements of the tracks highly recommend it to persons of all ages. I will now translate the song titles from German to English and also indicate in which earlier Nena albums one can find the original versions of some of these tracks:A. NENAS TAUSEND STERNE( "NENA'S THOUSAND STARS" ) By the way, Nena performed with the German pop music band Pur the song "La Le Lu" in some of their live concerts together and performed the song "Kleine Taschenlampe brenn'" with the German singer Markus Moerl in the movie GIB GAS, ICH WILL SPASS. Hence, many Nena fans worldwide hoped that these songs, with only Nena performing them, would one day be available in produced cd and/or audiocassette format. Well, that day certainly did come with the release of NENAS TAUSEND STERNE.

This is a great CD of songs that will mellow you out and rock any baby to sleep! Although it is for kids, adults will probably find it very soothing too! ...
