5.0 out of 5 stars Great Movie, Barely Known, March 12, 2008
This review is from: The Tavern (DVD)
This is a great film and story that doesn't seem to be very well known. These two friends take a risk by opening a bar, to live their dream. They have to borrow a lot of money from friends and put up their own family savings to open Tavern on Main. We soon see how difficult it is to make this kind of business work and things begin to fall apart until we get to the end. I won't spoil what happens. The acting in this movie is great from a bunch of people who I don't know and never heard of. Especially great is Ronnie's father who reminds me of an Irish Tony Soprano. The music is classic. This movie has a lot of feel to it. You can relate to the problems these people are having and to the characters themselves. I recently popped this into my vcr because I hadn't watched it in awhile and my GF never saw it. She was quiet and about half way through I asked her if she thought it was a good movie. She said she thought it was a great movie. I agree with her. The Tavern is a great movie and you should see it.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Tavern, July 3, 2003
This review is from: The Tavern [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Very underated film. The "street band" is the saw doctors - enough said.
