Book Description

April 15, 2000
TAX THE RUDE, NOT ME! is a uniquely clever new book that proposes the rude, selfish, greedy and annoying be taxed for their bad attitudes and bad behavior. Let's shift the tax burden to those who bust our chops, take advantage, or mistreat us. After all, we're subjected to misdeeds and ill manners on a daily basis - from bosses, relatives, HMOs, commuters, store clerks, co-workers, airlines, moviegoers, cabbies, waiters, neighbors, you name it. Let's slap them with taxes - it's the ultimate justice.

With tongue-in-cheek, TAX THE RUDE, NOT ME! is a well-crafted antidote to the rudeness and lack of civility around us. It pushes all the right buttons. And it's simply the best tax reform package ever proposed. Remember, if we tax the rude, the rest of us can be tax free! The 568 richly rewarding "tax classifications" are a direct hit, and tap into everyday frustrations we can all identify with. The book's humorous and insightful view of the world strikes sparks and offers much needed stress relief and tax relief! Happily, this trailblazer delivers comic relief, too.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

Those in the know describe this as the age of rage. On any given day we're bound to bump into the etiquette-challenged and ethics-deficient. That's why TAX THE RUDE, NOT ME! has universal appeal. It suggests we tax the bullies and bozos who annoy, exploit, and disrespect us. A humorous, stress-busting book, it's executed with mastery and wit and is a refreshing new take on pet peeves that will leave readers fully satisfied.

From A to Z, this page-turner takes aim at many different targets. This witty compendium of "tax worthy" behavior has it all: deceit, finger-pointing, power plays, scams, high anxiety, abuse of power, delusion, dysfunction, germ warfare, stealthy corporate honchos, broken promises, cheap ploys, and best of all, a rollicking good time! The authors navigate life's frustrations and transgressions with a breezy, snappy style and in a uniquely funny and comforting way. A feel-good book that avenges life's innocent bystanders, TAX THE RUDE, NOT ME! is a must-read that strikes a blow for over-taxed and under-respected Americans everywhere. After all, the "kinder, gentler" approach hasn't worked...this one will.

From the Author

Not going take it anymore? You are not alone and you're going love this reassuring book. The truth is, we're all taxed to the max: by the government, and by people we deal with who are "taxing." In other words, the present tax system needs a complete overhaul. And so does the way we treat each other. It's clear that we're all fed up with vanishing civility, bad manners, and galloping corporate greed. So why not tax the bullies and bozos responsible?

Let's face it, we're all moving targets for the shifty and the self-absorbed. We're not always treated courteously or honorably. TAX THE RUDE, NOT ME! settles the score. It counter-balances the everyday insults - and also makes taxes a laughing matter. Vent your frustrations and feel vindicated. Buy a copy for neighbors, roommates, co-workers, friends, spouse, parents, dentist, bosses, whiners - and don't be afraid to use a highlighter to single out their transgressions. Buy one for yourself and get cover-to-cover satisfaction. You'll love the 568 new "tax classifications", and even recognize familiar "tax worthy" rascals - we guarantee it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious, very clever collection of well-crafted observations., June 6, 2000
This review is from: Tax the Rude, Not Me! (Mass Market Paperback)
Tax The Rude, Not Me! is an hilarious, very clever collection of well-crafted observations of 568 "tax classifications" that would justifiable serve as "pay back" for stress causative idiots, morons, rascals and jerks that abound all around us in modern life. For example there is the Friend for Life Tax: Non-profit organizations that penalize you for making a contribution; you know they'll sell your name to other groups, so you'll be targeted for more appeals, forever. And then there's The Check's in the Mail Tax: Sellout politicians who make you wait longer and longer to enjoy your "golden years" by pushing back the eligibility age for Social Security benefits, hoping you're long dead before you can finally collect. Taken seriously, Tax The Rude, Not Me! could offer a blueprint for balancing the budget and paying off the national debt by year's end!

5.0 out of 5 stars Rude People Are Taxing!, April 18, 2000

This review is from: Tax the Rude, Not Me! (Mass Market Paperback)
This book is funny as hell! I found myself laughing out loud as I immediately identified with the annoying situations described in the book. I'm glad this stuff doesn't just happen to me! As an accountant, the title enticed me into buying it, but I think everyone can relate to it. It's a collection of gripes for which clever tax names are assigned. One of the features of this book is how it reads. You read the name of the "tax", you read the description, you identify with it, and then the name becomes hilarious.

Some of my favorite taxes were the Conga Line Tax, the Premature Evacuation Tax, and the BYOB tax. I even came up with a few taxes of my own! Many of these "taxes" also heightened my awareness of what goes on behind the scenes in restaurants, doctors offices, and supermarkets, to name a few. I would definitely recommend this book. I think it also makes a great gift idea.
