Book Description

May 30, 2008 I.R.$. (Book 1)
Larry B. Max is an unusual specialist from a little-known branch of the Internal Revenue Service, the all-powerful tax-collecting agency of the United States. Reading into tax-evasion and money-laundering rings the way a virtuoso pianist would read a sheet of Mozart, Max has every technological method at his disposal to find links between high finance and high crime. In this first album, he must look into a particularly delicate file belonging to a rich Jewish-American, known for his involvement in recovering items that were confiscated by the Nazis. Dissecting this billionaire's accounts, Max embarks on a dangerous journey to find the mysterious origins of the man's immense fortune..

3.0 out of 5 stars This may be the first Graphic Novel for Accountants and CPAs!, November 23, 2008
This review is from: Taxing Trails: I.R.$. Vol. 1 (Paperback)

I usually review CDs and books on music, because that's my first love but, as a CPA I find myself reading technical books on accounting.

When I spotted this graphic novel (it's really two, because there is a second story "The Hagen Strategy" included) I thought "Hmm, an accountant as a "superhero". GREAT!" And it is a fun story. Interestingly, a British company publishes it, and it looks like British authors as well. But the story takes place in the US in the Internal Revenue Service. Though the lead character - Larry B. Max - Appears to be caucasian on the cover, the coloring of the graphic inside makes him appear to be an African-American with gray hair. There's sex, violence and international intrigue relating to items stolen by the Nazis during WW II. All the things every accountant wants to get involved in.

This would make a great present for your CPA come tax time! I enjoyed it!
