Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Keep track of temperatures both inside and outdoors with this thermometer from industry leaders Taylor. Since 1851, Taylor has created thermometers of every kind, from candy-making thermometers to industrial freezer gauges. This digital thermometer provides precise temperatures, enabling users to plan appropriately for a sweltering day outside with an extra water bottle or pack a jacket for brisk mornings. The thermometer also shows indoor temperatures, signaling users to crack windows, draw shades, or adjust the thermostat to create greater comfort indoors.

An attached ten-foot cable extends outside, using an external sensor to evaluate current conditions. The LCD display reveals the dual temperatures in digits 1-inch high. Indoor temperature measurement capabilities range from +23 to +122 degrees F, while outdoor temperatures range from -58 to +158 degrees F. Users can also read the temperature in Celsius measurements. The thermometer also recalls high and low readings for extended information. The thermometer measures 5-7/8 by 7-1/4 by 2-1/4 inches with a weight of 0.3 pounds. --Jessica Reuling

5.0 out of 5 stars accurate, July 15, 2007

I bought this at a hardware store then read the reviews. I paid 19.99 when amazon is selling it for 9.99. So the price is great! As long as the wired cable that goes outside is in the shade, I get the exact outdoor temperature as the weather station in our town that is recorded on my computer. If the sun hits the cable wire, it is not accurate. I was told that you are not suppose to be a thermometer in the direct sun. I like it and I plan to buy another one at this price and put it upstairs in the bedroom. I also love the idea to know what the indoor temps is at the time as well. The numbers are big and easy to read. Takes 2 AA batteries.

UPDATE:09/20/2009
Still accurate to date.

We got this thermometer last May. It has been really useful for us to be able to compare indoor and outdoor temperatures easily. It has a nice big display that even the kids can read. We like it so much we've considered getting another one for the sunny side of the house.

4.0 out of 5 stars Taylor Model 1456, August 9, 2006

Pleased with the performance of the unit. Most manufacturers ask you to read the entire instructions prior to use. Took about 4 or 5 minutes, and about 4 minutes to set up and put in service. The screws on the battery covers are not too small. Typical of this genre of instruments. Only feature missing is a backlit readout face. Mounting hardware was included. Using Nickel-Metal Hydride AA batteries. For the price of this item, and its functions, I recommended it. Thanks, Mr. Marks
