The screws were very cheap as little metal shavings were coming off the heads.

Didn't think I needed one of these but Santa brought me one anyway. It became a quick habit checking outdoor temp from the kitchen. Due to improper install on my part the wind tore up the insulation on the probe connector that plugs in to the outdoor unit.

If you contact the Taylor web page they will replace the plug-in probe for five bucks. Better than replacing the whole thermometer. Of course, we had already replaced the whole unit when we heard back from Taylor! Figures. Now we have two of the things.

Bought one of these today. The remote/out sensor didn't work.
Took it back (20 miles each way) and they replaced it. Had the same problem.
Got a third unit it also does NOT display the out door reading. I'm not a idiot and followed the instruction in the manual to the letter.
This model is plain not good. Do not buy.

(The reason I kept getting the same non working unit is because I needed the remote wireless WITH the wire probe. Very good idea IF it worked.

I had my first for about 2 years and it worked on and off during that time. It finally stopped working all together. I decided it was a lemon and bought another. No better luck as this one oerated the same way but only lasted about 4 months. I was greatly disapointed because it is a good looking device. Do not make the same mistake I did twice.

The batteries require a small screw driver to access the compartment. It took two removals of the batteries to get the indoor remote reading to respond.
