5.0 out of 5 stars Weatherguide 1525 great for office
I purchased this product to be able to monitor both the temperature in my home office and outdoors. It was easy to install the remote sensor outside my office window and the main unit is easy to view. You will need a small screwdriver like for eye-glasses to change out the batteries in the remote sensor.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poorly Made
I, too, had difficulty removing the screws from the remote unit's battery cover. One of them was stripped and wouldn't come out. Eventually just pried it off. Took some fiddling to get remote sensor and main unit to communicate. Contrast on LCD screen is poor, except from one specific viewing angle. Backlight is ok, but who wants to walk over to the thing and press it,...

Backlight is ok, but who wants to walk over to the thing and press it, just to see the temp? I bought this one to replace another Taylor indoor/outdoor wireless unit that lasted less then a year, so I guess I should have known better. Oh yeah, it doesn't come with batteries either (requires 4 AAA).

1.0 out of 5 stars Taylor 1525 Weather Station/Don't buy it..., January 23, 2011

I got this from my boss as a gift. Put the batteries in. (Almost impossible to get the sensor batteries in) Set everything up and spent way to long trying to figure out how to sync the sensor with the inside unit. Never would sync up. Guess i'll use as an indoor thermometer. This is definetly China junk at it's worst.

1.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't get it to synchronize, December 31, 2010
This review is from: Taylor 1525 Wireless Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer With Hygrometer (Kitchen)
Bought today to replace an Oregon that lasted about 8 years. Should have got another Oregon. Followed directions to the letter and could not get the remote to synchronize with the base. Taking it back tomorrow and getting another Oregon.

2.0 out of 5 stars Accuracy issues ... maybe., December 8, 2010

I purchased this unit to replace an older wired model. I like the idea of being able to use
the thermometer untethered.
I decided to use the old and new thermometers side by side just to compare readings. The Taylor
seems to consistently read from 2 to 4' higher inside, than the older Radio Shack unit.
Outside readings are close to being the same.
If I set my electronic thermostat to 72, as it is right now, the Taylor reads 76.7' compared
to the Radio Shack's 73.4'. While that isn't a great difference, it's enough to make me question
the accuracy of the Taylor. I want the indoor reading to be accurate in order to monitor my thermostat
settings and energy costs.
As the Taylor factory is in my city, I decided to drop them an email describing my problem
and asking if there was something that could be done. That was several days ago. So far, I've
heard nothing from them.
As others have said, getting the tiny screws out of the remote sensor can be a pain. The sensor
is located (for now) in a tree outside my front door. The distance is about 22 ft. from the main
unit. I lose the outdoor signal roughly once a day.
I would be hard pressed to recommend the Taylor. I'm seriously considering looking for another
brand to try. Before I do that, however, I'm going to take the Taylor to a friend's house. He has
a new, fairly expensive weather station that he likes quite a bit. I'll compare temps just to see
what happens.

Addendum: I did check the Taylor against two other thermometers. It does indeed read high inside.
I still use the Taylor, but I won't buy another of their products.

Model 1525, It does sync easely..the only thing it has going for it.
The screen is barly readable in any light... as in very dim.
I bought this replacing a Lacrosse Technology unit which was extremely hard to sync and then finally it would and then when it came time to change the batteries you get to spend the next hour trying to sync it again.
This was not the unit I ordered through amazon..I bought a taylor model 1456 thru Amazon with Aubuchon Hardware as the seller ...Aubuchon took the liberty of sending me the wrong model ...a 1525. I have already opened it and I am hoping that Aubuchon will replace it with the one I ordered.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing product, July 5, 2011
This review is from: Taylor 1525 Wireless Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer With Hygrometer (Kitchen)
I finally gave up on this product after replacing the outdoor transmitter twice. The unit abruptly loses the outdoor signal and in the end I had two components just plain die. In addition the reset is ridiculous: one needs to unscrew the plate of the transmitter to hit the reset. It was nice while it lasted, but that wasn't long enough.

The Taylor name means quality and the wireless thermometer that I bought is a quality product and works well. It even allows for multiple pickup locations with an additional remote sensor.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy It, September 21, 2011
This review is from: Taylor 1525 Wireless Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer With Hygrometer (Kitchen)
The only way to change batteries on the remote and synch is by getting a very tiny glasses type of screwdriver and removing 4 screws on the back of the remote sensor. Very awkward.

The display is unreadable unless you push the backlight button on top of the indoor unit then you have three seconds to read it.

My remote unit sends only one temp, 70.9 It never changes.

Judging from the other reviews....I'm going to buy someone elses product this was a complete waste of my money.
