I've used Taylor wireless thermometers for years. This newer model is not better, overall. Three biggest complaints: dimly lit readout with new batteries; awkward to switch between remote sensor readings; i.e. requires 2 hands - one to hold, one to press button; and does not accurately read below 10 degrees F. Consider winter cold. On the plus, very accurate readings at 10F or above when checked against mercury thermometers.

condensation collecting between Fall and Winter if it is left outside.I even had the second remote I purchased inside 2 ziploc bags when I left it outside. Bought as a Christmas present. Runs fine during spring and summer. I set it under the rear outside stairs hanging off a hook. Never had a problem with the base unit

Programiming is difficult and it's nearly impossible to change the batteries. I recommend buying a different brand or model. Not worth the money.

THIS REVIEW IS FOR A BASE STATION WITH 3 REMOTES, ALL PURCHASED SIMULTANEOUSLY:
They came in a box, and rather quickly. I had to take the back off of the base station and insert two batteries to make it start working. It comes complete with a remote station. I wondered why the remote did not have its own read-out screen. (That way, after I put it in my bedroom upstairs, I could see -- in my bedroom -- what the temperature was there. Alas, that is not part of the deal. The base station tells all, and is the only place that reports anything. Get over it! The rest is all good. It all works wirelessly. So you have to put the batteries in the base station, and be sure it is working as a first step. If you are going to hang it on a wall, might as well do that at the same time. Almost immediately, it is giving an accurate reading at that location. Next, start up the first remote. (the only dumb thing I thought was the placement of the "channel selector switch" INSIDE the battery box (held in place by 4 tiny screws.) Select CH #1, put the two batteries in, and place it near the base. They will signal each other in a few minutes, and then the base flashes the second reading (keeping them together, you should get the same temp reading for each -- a neat way to check things so far.) You can buy two more remotes separately, to be set up as #2 and then #3. Each remote comes with a nine-foot cord with a temp sensor at the far end. What they did not tell me in the instructions was to not put the sending unit outside or in the hot attic. Put a sensor in those locations, feed wire thru window or hole, and put the sensor as near the base as reasonable. (They say you can penetrate up to 3 walls, but the closer you get to line-of-sight, the better it works.)

My husband wanted another sensor for our thermometer so that he could measure the temperature in his new green house. It worked just fine (once we got it in the right spot so that it would transmit far enough - these don't have a very big range).

Great add on to the main unit. If you have trouble getting the unit to communicate with the base, first read the instructions then try relocating the sensors.
