5.0 out of 5 stars Lifetime Warranty and Best Buy from Consumer Magazine
There is no 100% accurate scale. So you can just get the best one for the money. I've used different scales and I'm happy with Taylor. I've seen this scale for $50.00 at most websites. I know a lot of people rated this scale kind of poor. However, it's not this scale only, all scales get rated poor. A scale is a offensive object. It's tells things people don't want...

3.0 out of 5 stars Tempermental scale
I have had my scale for several years now. The price was right. The weight reading seem accurate, and the body fat seems to be consistent, but I am not sure how accurate it is. I have lost weight lately (and I am sure body fat) and the scale confirms this. The body fat measurement are high if I drink a lot of water or am bloated! This may be the variability some...

It's tells things people don't want to know.

People complain about the inaccuracy on measuring fat. It is a approximate, and all scales work the same way. So wether you buy the plus $100.00 scale, or this low price Taylor, it's the same accuracy. One thing you got to ask yourself is although measuring the fat is approximate, WILL AN APPROXIMATE AMOUNT HELP YOU LOSE WEIGHT? My answer would be yes. So spend the extra few dollars and get a fat analyzer scale.

Finding a scale with a lifetime warranty is very hard. Scales do wear out with use, so I'm surprised this company will offer that.

Negative: It took me about 10 minutes to program the scale and reading the instructions about 4 times. So it's not the easiest instructions to follow.

3.0 out of 5 stars Tempermental scale, February 4, 2005

I have had my scale for several years now. The price was right. The weight reading seem accurate, and the body fat seems to be consistent, but I am not sure how accurate it is. I have lost weight lately (and I am sure body fat) and the scale confirms this. The body fat measurement are high if I drink a lot of water or am bloated! This may be the variability some people are referring to. My problem is that every so often the scale will not give me any reading at all! It displays an EE instead of a reading (it is not the battery). I have found that it needs to be on a VERY level surface, with no vibrations. It will only work in certain locations, and it will go off by itself if the battery is left in. I am beginning to be convinced that it is sensitive to barometric pressure, as there is a high-pressure front coming in and my scale will not work. I might recommend avoiding some frustration and trying a different brand of scale with fewer quirks if you can find one for a comprable price.

2.0 out of 5 stars Scale is okay. B.F. analyzer doesn't work. Plus the NOISE, May 2, 2004

It works great as a scale. Comparing what it reads to friends' scales is accurate. However, the body fat analyzer is crazy. Giving extremely different measurements within a 10 minute period. Plus it is so LOUD. Is next to impossible not to wake someone up when I weigh myself in the morning. As a scale it works, but for less money I could easily have a regular scale to tell me the same information.

2.0 out of 5 stars Inaccurate - resolution of 4 lbs!!!, December 23, 2003

What a great scale, I thought, until after a few days I noticed that my weight was either 150.4lbs or 153.6lbs. Please, give me something in between! But no, alas, it can't. I even tried carrying small weights onto the scale with me to, but no joy. Avoid like the plague, especially if you're into weight management.

1.0 out of 5 stars don't buy this, April 18, 2004

The body fat reporting never worked right.
On the weight measurement, you can get on & off the scale and get readings that vary by 2 pounds. Also, over the past month, the scale reported I was gradually losing 10 pounds. Great! I decided to confirm this on my old analog scale & found that I had instead GAINED 10 pounds. I changed the battery, but still the same result, off by 20 pounds. Avoid this product.

This review is from: Taylor 5553 Bia Body Fat Analyzer Bath Scale (Health and Beauty)
About a year ago, I purchased a Body Fat Analyzer and Weight Scale (5553-4012). During that time, I have dropped nearly 30lbs by my doctor's scale - so much weight that family members who hadn't seen me in six months literally did not recognize me. Since the day that I purchased the scale, the measurements that I have gotten have not changed. The scale still reads the same weight and body fat measurements as a year ago, despite considerable evidence to the contrary. To say I am disappointed in this scale is a massive understatement. I have followed the instructions to the letter - weighed myself at the same time every day, with my shoes off and my feet slightly damp. I have tried time and time again to recalibrate the scale by removing the battery for several minutes and then replacing it. Nothing has worked. I can still continue to measure my progress by using my doctor's scale, but it is enormously frustrating to have spent nearly $60 on a scale, only to have it flash the same range of numbers day in and day out - even though I can *see* the weight loss. I cannot recommend this scale at all, and have doubts about purchasing other Taylor products again.

I bought this scale somewhere else and I found it to be accurate on different surfaces, hardwood, tile or carpet. But it ceased to work after three days! the button got stuck in with my attempt to urge it on, they didn't seem well made. when it was workig, managing the settings was difficult. Dissapointed coming from Tayor who I thought had a reputation for accuracy and reliability.

2.0 out of 5 stars Excited with My Christmas Gift, July 23, 2005
This review is from: Taylor 5553 Bia Body Fat Analyzer Bath Scale (Health and Beauty)
At Christmas 2003 I was very excited with the $50 scale my family purchased for me. It worked as advertised for about six months. Then it displayed the ERR message more and more. We replaced the battery. Then it would not permit any function buttons to perform. We just sighed and used my expensive gift as any $7 bathroom scale. When it went completely blank this week, battery of no use, I hopped on the internet to see what anyone else's experience is. To be fair, I will contact the manufacturer and see if they can make it right. I hope they can. If not, I will see what the Weight Watchers scales is like. Sigh ...

1.0 out of 5 stars It really doesn't work, May 27, 2005
This review is from: Taylor 5553 Bia Body Fat Analyzer Bath Scale (Health and Beauty)
After reading several comments I tried to proof my scale is working properly. However, like someone else wrote the scale is not consistant. I weight myself several times and noticed very considerable diferrences in readings. Like some one else I even tried placing an additional amount of weight in my hands. The scale gave me several readings for the same amount of weight. Now! A digital scale is supposed to be percise...

First of all, the battery that was supposed to be enclosed was not. When I bought a 9 volt battery and installed it, it would not stay attached when putting it back in the battery compartment. Finally, I got a read out, and entered my height and age. Then I stood on the scale and got nothing - no weight, no body fat, nothing, but the word ERROR, at which point I boxed it up and sent it back for a refund.
