Great Scale,
This review is from: Taylor 5757 Digital Glass Body Fat Scale (Health and Beauty)
I bought this scale just to use for weight. I didn't really need to body fat function. The scale is great. It is very accurate. It also gives your weight in 10th of a pound. It will flash a few different (but very close) numbers before it "sticks" the final number. I'm not sure the other reviewer waited for the final number. It just takes a few seconds. I am now using the body fat function. I had to go online to find out what a healthy body fat is for me. I wish a chart had been included in the directions.

"Sticky" weight,

Unlike other reviewers, the problem I had with this scale is that the weight seemed to "stick" when there would be a slight variation in weight. When I weighed myself every morning, the weight would be the same number. The number will only change when the weight difference would be about 2 lbs or so. I bought the scale to track my weight gain during my pregnancy, and the scale made it like I gained 2-3 lbs in a day, and the weight would be consistent for over weeks. I didn't know that was the problem with the scale at first, and I thought it was just my weird weight gain, until I weighed my two nieces, K and L. They both are close in weight, but I know they don't have the same weight. However, when I weighed K, the scale would register 36.5 lbs. I weighed L, her weight would also say 36.5 lbs. However, if I weighed K first, then weighed myself (a lot more than the 40 lbs range :-)), then weighed L, L's weight would be 37.6 lbs. Now if I put the K back on the scale right after L, K would weigh at 37.6 lbs, same as L's. Unless, of course, I weighed myself in between, then K's weight would consistently be 36.5 lbs, and L's weight would always be 37.6 lbs. I tested this lots of times, with different individuals, and the results are always the same. So, if you are looking for a scale that would give your approximate weight, within 2-3 lbs, then this is a pretty good scale. However, if you want to use this scale to track your weight gain/loss (pregnancy, diet, etc.), it might be misleading.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

This scale is working out well for tracking my weight loss, but more importantly for keeping my husband on track with his fluids as he training for a marathon. Loss of fluids can be an issue for those who run, but running in Florida in the record heat we have had makes this bath scale, that is acurate to tenths and reveals not only body fat, but water, a life saver.

Great scale for Persons of Size,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Taylor 5757 Digital Glass Body Fat Scale (Health and Beauty)
I'm smaller than your average bear, but larger than the average human; so I needed a scale that I could use to give me daily feedback on my weight. This scale is easy to use and has the capacity to weigh individuals up to 440 lbs. The body fat function isn't as intuitive as I would expect; but it adds a useful (if depressing) datum to my daily statistics. The personal settings (age, height & gender) affect the fat percentage results, so make sure that you have the scale set to the right person or your numbers will be off. It doesn't affect the performance or the results of this review; but the plastic cover for the readout 'pod' was cracked when I received the scale. It wasn't bad enough to bother with even Amazon's easy return process.

Accurate weight, extremely inaccurate BMI,

I bought this so I can track weight and BMI. The scale weight is accurate, but the BMI number is off on the high side by 10 percentage points. Also, every time you want to use the BMI/weight measurements, you always have to run through the entire setup procedure. That's too cumbersome. If all you want is an accurate scale, this is a good buy for the money, but don't bother if you want to track BMI.

Bought it a Sam's Club for around $20. Good deal, right? Too bad I had to return it. Similar to other reviewers, it would take a few tries until you would get an accurate read out. I did use the fat/water functions, and it would give me two different weights when I used the functions and when I did not. I followed the instructions to recalibrate when given the error message, just hated having to do that over and over every time I used it. Took it back for an exchange to try another one, but they were out; which is probably a good thing since it seems more than one has this problem. It's a great looking scale, liked the easy to read display that showed your weight along with fat % and water % all at the same time, and the glass with invisible electrodes is very cool. Again, too bad it just doesn't work the way it should.

Inaccurate,
By
This review is from: Taylor 5757 Digital Glass Body Fat Scale (Health and Beauty)
I bought this scale simply because it was the first one I ran across at the store I was in and it looked decent. However, the weight it gives you on the first try isn't very accurate and leads me not to trust its measurements. I don't use the body fat function so I'm just referring to the normal weight readout. When I first step on the scale it gives me one weight, and then after I wait a few seconds and step on it again it gives me another weight, often more than a pound different than the first. Usually it then "sticks" with this second weight and that's what it gives me for every subsequent time I step on it until the next day. What I've ended up having to do is step on and off the scale several times in the morning and assume the weight it "sticks" with is the most accurate. This is annoying and a waste of time, what I paid for was a scale that would give me an accurate reading the first time.

Odd scale...never quite know when it is working right,

I bought this scale from Sam's Club a few years ago. We believe the scale worked somewhat to a point for the first year or so, and then it start to deteriorate. Now the scale works intermittently and even after changing the battery, it would show 5.6lb when you turn it on, and then error message. Sometimes, it would show as though everything is normal, but when I step on it it shows the weight about 4 to 5 lb heavier, then when I step off it would show 4.6lb or 5.2 lb and shuts off on its own without computing body fat %. I normally verify my weight with our Wii balance board and this scale always shows about 3 or 4 lbs heavier than what Wii balance board says (even after accounting for the 2 lbs clothing weight). We are disappointed because we wanted the scale to be as accurate as possible, but this scale is far from perfect. As for the body fat scale is concerned, it is as inaccurate as it can get. What they are doing is simply taking your weight, age and height information and computing the fat and water % based on the table they have programmed. I am slightly overweight, but workout everyday so I have enough muscle mass. My scale consistently shows my fat % to be about 30% while my fat % calculated base on my body measurement and weight shows about 6 to 7% less. So, unless you know how to verify your body fat %, which basically defeats the purpose of getting this body fat scale, I would not recommend relying on this feature. We are on the hunt for new and better scale. Hopefully, the next one would work out much better.

This Scale is terrible and inaccurate BEYOND belief!!!!,
This review is from: Taylor 5757 Digital Glass Body Fat Scale (Health and Beauty)
I bought this scale from a local department store, Kohl's, and was excited with the bold promises that it made with the marketing."Accurate Body Fat readings" Ha! What a joke! I have recently taken up working out diligently 6 days a week with a 2 time body building champion in our area. He has been training and helping me learn everything I possibly can about nutrition, body fat, weight, and everything else in the world of fitness. He measured my Body Fat % with calibers and with a Takita digital model (price is about $1200 for the model he used). When we started I was at 44% BF and in 4 weeks I'm currently at 35.3%. This scale says I'm at 36.7%, than this morning after urinating I stepped on AS INSTRUCTED BY THE MANUAL and it now says I'm at 34.1%. Thinking this is incorrect, I step off and step on again 34.8%. For giggles sake I step off and on again, 33.5%. Really? You piece of trash scale. I noticed someone posted something about "Sticky Weight", and OH GOD IS THAT TRUE! I wish I would have seen that sooner because I was becoming so demotivated by this scale for 4 days when it would not drop below 256 LBS. I went from 271 LBS at the beginning, but who knows if that was right now, and I am melting fat off my body. For 4 DAYS IN A ROW I woke up SO excited to see my daily results and was so disheartened to find it read 256 LBS EVERYDAY! WTF!?! Went through my head and when voicing my concern to my friend I work out with he put me on the scale at the gym (again crazy expensive and insanely accurate) it showed 251.4 WITH CLOTHES AND SHOES ON! I jumped off and cheered and told him F that scale man! His advice was perfect "Throw that scale in the garbage where it belongs. Taylor scales are all marketing and trash." Bottom line DO NOT BUY THIS SCALE!!! Inaccurate and you probably weigh MORE or LESS than what it is saying. With my example I weighed 5LBS less! That is unacceptable. The scale my friend recommended and I bought today is the[...] Quick research shows that this is also Consumer Searches #1 choice also.

Another stuck scale,
This review is from: Taylor 5757 Digital Glass Body Fat Scale (Health and Beauty)
I read with great interest the review of the stuck scale as I have had this problem more than once. I have had the scale for nearly a year now and this has happened many times. I have cleaned every contact that I can find and changed the batteries, but the problem persists. It was great the first 5-6 months but now it seems to only move in increments of 2 lbs or so. I use this to track my weight around workouts so changes of 1 lb are important. For the money I thought I would be buying something more reliable than this.
