Very practical for your home made ice cream,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Taylor Candy-Jelley-Deep Fry Thermometer (Kitchen)
I bought it because I make ice cream at home and I need exact temperature readings (I use the "How to make ice cream" book that you can find here - superb book).
4 stars because the clip is not strong enough to keep the thermometer up when stirring the mixture while cooking.

Taylor: not so accurate.,
By Phoenix "Love Books" (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews It's an okay thermometer. I needed a thermometer for shallow deep frying (about 1 inch of oil) and this seemed to be a good middle of the road choice. Turns out, if less than 2 1/2 inches of the probe sits in liquid, it only reads the about average temperature of what it's submerged in. The heat climbs slowly up the shaft of the probe to give the median temperature.

Not good for candy,
This review is from: Taylor Candy-Jelley-Deep Fry Thermometer (Kitchen)
I bought this and blindly followed the temperature indicated. When the candy started to turn color way early I compared the temp to a mercury thermometer and it was 20 degrees off! I'm returning it.
