Product Description

Amazon.com

Gauging the perfect temperature for raspberry jam or grape jelly is key to a successful batch. With Taylor’s highly accurate thermometer, the guesswork is taken out of the picture resulting in perfect consistency every time. The 6-inch steel probe also monitors sugar temperature for sweets, or oil for deep-frying doughnuts to chicken. With a large, 2-3/4-inch dial, a red-wand indicator clearly displays temperatures from 200 to 400 degrees F. Added conveniences include an adjustable kettle clip plus a movable red arrow that may be set as a target-temperature indicator. This dishwasher-safe product is covered by Taylor’s lifetime warranty. It also comes packaged with a handy food temperature guide. -- Amy Arnold

4.0 out of 5 stars Very practical for your home made ice cream September 18, 2005

I bought it because I make ice cream at home and I need exact temperature readings (I use the "How to make ice cream" book that you can find here - superb book).

4 stars because the clip is not strong enough to keep the thermometer up when stirring the mixture while cooking.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not good for candy December 23, 2007
I bought this and blindly followed the temperature indicated. When the candy started to turn color way early I compared the temp to a mercury thermometer and it was 20 degrees off! I'm returning it.

I am so glad that I purchased this thermometer. It works perfectly for deep frying, and is also good for making sure a roast has reached the correct temperature.

5.0 out of 5 stars Accurate at high temps
Great thermometer. not as accurate at low temps, but that's not why I bought this item. Great for candy making, and very accurate at higher temps.

1.0 out of 5 stars inexpensive but inaccurate
This model, though reasonably priced, does not do the job. Over about 200 degrees F the needle bends toward the face and gets somewhat stuck. Read more
