1.0 out of 5 stars Item stopped working 41 days after first use!!
Sure its gorgeous, but I agree with "This scale is nuts" reviewer.

First of all, it takes half a minute to give a read-out, many many "err" mis-reads, then this morning, it claims I am 102.5 pounds. (three times in a row) Oh, if only THAT were true! Okay, just now, it said 100 pounds, oh man I must be dying!! And YES I checked that the switch was on lbs and...

I have owned this scale for about a week. First of all, the manual is well written, simple, and accurate. Both my mother and I use the scale and have found it to be accurate as compared to our old analog scale. To be honest, our old scale gave varying readings of 1 and 2 pound differences with each repeated weighing at 1-minute intervals. The Taylor 7009 gave consistent readings under the same test everytime except once where the pound difference was up by 0.5.

The scale is relatively small, neat, and gorgeous with its black and silver finish. It has quite a slim profile, and it does feel solid and seems durable, but only time will tell if it is durable. The display is large and the numbers are very easy to read. On the topic of the display, it must be noted that the scale gives a reading within 3 to 4 seconds of standing on it, and it dutifully turns itself off after a few seconds. (I believe this is why the battery would be able to last a lifetime as the manufacturer promises).

It is very sensitive, so it is advisable that once you stand on it, remain as still as possible, because too much movement will result in an Error message on the display. This is easily resolved by stepping off and then on the scale again.

In short, this is a beautifully made scale which functions the way it should - accurately.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great scale!, June 3, 2005
This review is from: Taylor 7009 Electronic Lithium Scale (Health and Beauty)
I got this scale about a week ago and absolutely love it! Don't get fooled by its size - it's smaller and thinner than some other scales so you can store it more easily. It's very precise - I even tried weighting myself several times in a row and always got the same reading!

It has a little switch on the bottom so you can choose whether you want your weight shown in pounds or kilograms. Based on your settings, it displays weight in either 0.2 kg or 0.5 lb increments.

If you store the scale elsewhere than where you weigh yourself, the manual prompts you to step on the scale, and then step off regardless of the reading. Then you step on it again and weigh yourself as usual. That way the scale adjusts itself to the different surface and the reading is more accurate.

Overall, I would recommend this product.

Spend more money and buy a GOOD scale!

This is the second cheaper scale I bought, now I am getting a GOOD one.

Oh yes, also, I did not spill water on it.

3.0 out of 5 stars A very basic machine, July 21, 2006
This review is from: Taylor 7009 Electronic Lithium Scale (Health and Beauty)
PROS:

It is compact, has big display and is good looking.

CONS:

As mentioned by some of the users it is consistent - unfortunately this is because the instrument remebers your weight. Found out on day one itself because it gave the exact same weight for me and my wife. If two people are going to check weights make sure you have a 4-5 minute gap to ensure correct reading.

SUMMARY:

Buy it if only you want to feel good about your weight or you dont have any reason for acurate weight monitoring. Since it remembers your weight you dont really know whether it got the weight correct the first time.

If you are on something like a weight loss program or more than one person is using the machine I wont recommend it for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent, September 18, 2005

Pros: big readout, sturdy feel, no cheap looking, plus a Kg/Lb switch on the back.
Cons: not water resistant enough for the bathroom. Mine went dead after a large amount of water was accidentally poured over.
Accuracy: decent. I once was so bored that I put standard weights on the scale to test its accuracy. The error went as much as 1lb but I suppose that is tolerable to most people.

I don't understand how these products passed the quality test. The readings are very inaccurate and differs by more than 4 pounds even if the readings are just a minute apart.

Do yourself a favor and never buy this item

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a good scale, April 9, 2007

This review is from: Taylor 7009 Electronic Lithium Scale (Health and Beauty)
I THOUGHT this scale was good for a while. It looked good. Then I started getting odd readings. Within five minutes, it would give me two different weights that are either 4 or 5 lbs apart. (I would do it over and over and the scale seemed to not be able to decide). I tried a new battery, and it did not help. (Before I noticed this problem, I actually told a friend to get this scale, too, and she has reported the same problem). I've tried moving the scale, resetting it, everthing. Nothing seems to help. I am now shopping for a new scale.

PROS: The scale's very acurate. I have compared it to the scales at my doctor several times. I'm pregnant and go to the doctor at least once a month and wanted to keep an eye on my pregnancy weight gain at home as well. The doctor's weigh you on several different scales and everytime the Taylor 7009 says the same thing as the doctor's sclaes. I've had no problems with it at all. It's compact..very thin. Not expensive at all. I've compared prices too!

CONS: ...haven't found any

This electronic scale is accurate and easy to use. It looks cool and works well. My only issue with it is that you have to stand on it for a couple seconds before your weight comes up on the screen.
