I hope I can help!,
By Super Storm Trooper (CHICAGO, IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Taylor 7081 Pound Projection Scale (Health and Beauty)
I am the Engineer in charge of this product at Taylor, and I wanted to address the initial two negative reviews my product had.
Battery cover - On the initial production, the tab doesn't appear to "click" in place. When it doesn't engage the door can be opened with just a little pulling. I could see that with some jostling it can fall off, so this complaint is probably viable. However the door does "work" ... you just need to make sure it "clicks" when you close it by pressing the door latch until it "clicks". I would not call this door "loose" by any means. Our Factory has addressed this with an adjustment so our ongoing production will not be subject to this minor battery door matter. Creaking on platform - When stepping on the scale - there appears to be no creaking. When on the scale, I shifted my weight side to side on the platform & there is a slight audible "creaking". Unfortunately this is the nature of the design of the scale - the platform and base plastic covers both rest on the plastic side pieces, so when you apply your load to the top of the scale the plastic flexes and produces a slight sound when it pushes against the side pieces. There is no functional problem though because there is a 1-mm thick steel plate inside this scale to help achieve 550 lb capacity. This product has run through multiple tests and achieves 550 lb accuaratley. This guy isn't breaking! Comment on weight accuracy - As for the customer claiming his weight being "9.5 lb off" after "several people showed the correct weight", I cannot duplicate this in the lab, but did a follow up test in our US lab that proved the scale to be accurate throughout the range. Our instructions detail how to initialize the scale, so if the customer is having problems with the readings reaching zero they should re-initialize per the instructions. If I see any further consumer issues or concerns - I will update this review accordingly.

Finally a scale built for me!,

I had some concerns about this scale from the other reviews especially the creaking sounds. After I ordered it I did hear something when I stepped on the scale but nothing like the other reviewers describe. I called Customer Service at Taylor and they had me speak with the product manager for this scale. The inside of the scale has a steel plate to handle the extra weight. This scale isnt going anywhere! If the battery door comes off its because it wasnt clicked in properly. Once you hear it click you know it is locked in. The only time the display can be blurry is if you angle it up too high on the wall.
This scale has been nothing but awesome since I got it! I am a larger guy that never really knew my true weight since I could never find a scale that had a large enough capacity. The platform size was never large enough and the weight display was too tiny to read. This scale addresses ALL the problems I'ver had with other scales in the past. It handles my weight, the platform is roomy and with the display showing on the wall it is easy to read. I am now on a strict diet with my doctor and when I weigh myself at his office the reading I get at home matches the weight exactly. My friends and family have used the scale and they all love it too!

I ordered the scale as I had hit 402 on my doctors scale and needed one that would hold me. This one arrived in half the time stated, and was excellent right out of the box. We have moved it three times, always following the instructions to reset it to the new location before using it. It is reliable, and works extremely well. By the by, I am down to 360 since purchasing it 40 days ago - but I don't think the scale is the reason - but I know it is a huge part of my daily regime, knowing that it will accurately reflect my body weight. I highly recommend this scale.

I had purchased another scale, but for the life of me, could not get it to work. I kept getting the "E" message, meaning error. I decided to check out Amazon, and even though this was a bit pricey, I decided to give it a try. This scale works fantastic!!! Out of the box it worked perfectly, and having it beam on the wall is even better. I was having to bend over to see what my weight was, this way I just look at the wall. It shows up very clearly on the wall !! I am very happy with this purchase and would suggest it to anyone wanting to purchase a new scale. It arrived very quickly, and was packaged carefully. Thanks again Amazon...

This is a good scale with a couple of rather annoying problems. First, it does not like to stabilize on a weight. ANY movement, even the very slightest, can move that incredibly small .2 lb. increment a notch or two and the scale NEVER settles on a weight. I've managed to get it to "lock in" on a weight only once since I bought it. However, you can read the "jumps" and get a pretty good idea anyway. Second, the "projection" feature is pretty worthless. If you are close to a wall it can't get a decent picture. Best results is to set it a few feet from a flat surface and then you may get something you can read. Naturally, this isn't possible in all circumstances.

Great,

For the price this scale is great. I am a big guy 400+ and this scale is not so bad. I like that you can clearly see your weight on a wall with out trying to look down you can easily adjust the clarity with a dial. Looking at the wall helps you to stand still. It is slim and easy store away. I have had other scales that can weigh 500+ and so far this one is the best. I have had it for over a year now and it is still working great.

Accuracy & Easy Reading,

Of all of the style scales I have purchased and have used over the years, this particular Taylor Scale is the best.
1. Accuracy: I always weigh myself before a doctor's appt. and since I have had this particular scale I am always about 2-4 lbs more at the doctor office due to clothes and shoes. I finally can come very close to my weight at home with the various doctor's scales. 2. The projection feature is awesome and the fact that you can adjust the arm of the projector to a comfortable wall height for yourself is a really nice feature. It is truly the real reason I purchased this. 3. I would imagine for people heavier then the standard 200-300 maximum weight for most scales sold, that it helps with any stigma they may have about their weight that they can now weigh themselves in the privacy of their own home. It seems as though Taylor has thought of it all with this one. GO TAYLOR!!! Susie Homemaker in York

Bought this for my son & was a bit leery about ordering on line but am so glad I did. Product exceeds our expectations & was a good price plus the ease of being able to see the weight projected on wall or ceiling. Would recommend it as far as my son is concerned. Good quality also.

I am a big guy 6'9" and weigh 400 plus. With size 15 wide feet the deck is a tad small but acceptable. My toes cover the digital read out. The projection is a cool feature and the focus wheel makes it great. You can not see the digital read out but after the scale blinks three times with the red numbers from the wall projector and you step off the scale it also locks the digital read out for a few seconds to read your weight. I put a paper on the wall to see the read out even better. If you follow the directions carefully which are very well written it is a no brainer. I would have given it a five if the deck was a little longer and wider but it is a fantastic deal for the price. Originally I bought a larger nice size deck scale with a hand held infrared remote that was DOA making the deck useless. Amazon refunded me quickly and I order the Taylor scale. It seems like Iam going to brake it because it is light, but it holds up well. Yes it does creek when stepped on but get over it. It is the best value for a slimline design for price and weight capacity and easy to move when not in use. I couldn't be happier!
