5.0 out of 5 stars Pro-Grade Kitchen Timer Worth Every Cent!
Hefty stainless steel case with gray silicon inserts looks great and keeps accurate time. Loud continuous alarm is much appreciated. Neat feature is that it starts to count up after alarm goes off, so you know the extra cooking time involved to the second if you get distracted and don't pull the item from stovetop or oven immediately.

Love it!

This timer looks good, has a large readable display with seconds displayed and it keeps counting after the timer buzzes until you turn it off. But what you should be aware of before you buy this product is that it is difficult to use. There is a clock and timer setting so first you have to change the button on the back to timer before setting it. It a 200 minute timer and this means that anytime you want to reset it to a time that is anything less than the previous setting you have to go through all 200 minutes. The buttons are hard to use because in order to turn the timer on or off you really have to squeeze both sides of the timer simultaneously. If you don't do it just right the timer either doesn't start when you thought you turned it on or doesn't stop and keeps buzzing...it is just annoying to use. I have also had this timer a little over a year and sometimes the LCD display just doesn't work at all or fades out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect timer for me!, April 6, 2010

I purchased this timer to match my new stainless appliances. The timer on my new stove was too quiet. This new timer is loud and continues for many minutes. I don't really know how long as I have just been playing with it only a little while. It will sound again after 3 minutes with a countup feature. Nice size and weight with a nice look to the timer. It was very easy to set up. I had it all programmed in a manner of minutes. It actually comes with batteries! Remember to pull the plastic tab to activate the batteries. Great price. Love it, Love it, Love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Solid, functional product with only one flaw..., October 23, 2010

I was only going to rate this product 4 stars. However, I found the other low ratings of the product to be unfair. Therefore,I decided to rate it 5.

First, in response to another reviewer who stated that you must go through all 200 minutes in order to reset the timer to zero, this is not true. If you had bothered to read the instructions, you would know that simultaneously holding the minute and second buttons would immediately reset the timer.

Second, in response to another review which said the product seemed cheaply built, it does not. For the price point at which this product is currently available on amazon(which at the moment is around $9.00 including shipping)this is a very sturdy design and does not feel cheap at all. In fact, I just saw this timer being sold at a local Sur La Table store for $17 + tax. It was one of their better digital kitchen timers.

The only possible flaw that I could attribute to it at the given price point(roughly $9), is the lack of a better way to set the time. Rather than having to repeatedly press the minute &/or second button, personally, I would prefer a system often employed in microwaves where you have a number keypad to directly type the desired time in. This is simpler. To be fair, Taylor does manufacture such a product, but it does not seem to be well built. At least not as well as this timer. A sturdy yet light weight "key-in-the-time" compact timer that is flat with a large enough magnet on the back so that it would not jiggle off the refrigerator each time you pressed a button would be a product I would be interested in (of course affordability is the key).
Whether this product will stand the test of time, we cannot know now. However, I have good faith that it will last me a good several years if not many more(knock on wood).

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice clock/timer, February 9, 2011

It's the best kitchen timer I could find, to my taste (simple, digital, stainless steel), on Amazon. That said, the buttons are difficult to press, and the numbers on the display are constantly off-center, since the largest digits are rarely used. It was worth the price.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, July 4, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Taylor #511 Connoisseur Digital Stainless Steel Timer (Kitchen)
The Taylor Stainless Steel Timer I purchased was used so there was some risk in its performance I suppose. Two weeks after use the screen went blank. Put in new battery and it worked for about two weeks again. Put in another new battery. It worked for about two weeks. The screen is now blank and has been for about a week. I originally bought the same timer at Crate & Barrel 3 years ago. I loved it. I dropped it on the kitchen floor face down. It still kept time, but the alarm no longer functioned. I'm using it as a clock in another room.

Do I send this back and pay shipping? Will I get another? Any suggestions. Am very, very, disappointed in lack of performance.

5.0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC Count Up Timer!!, May 27, 2008

This timer is perfect for various kitchen uses as well as basic office uses. It is high quality and looks good with my stainless/black kitchen decor. I use it regularly. It sits up nicely at an angle for easy viewing when using the "count up feature" while I mix batters for cookies and cakes...which is a plus.

I paid too much for this timer, not worth the price. The piece itself looks very cheap.
