I bought the Mini to replace a Baby Taylor. It is a better guitar than the Baby Taylor I had, which I really liked for its
sound quality and easy action. The Mini is a slightly different box. It plays easily as do most Taylors, delivers
a pretty substantial bass for such a small guitar and intonates well. Flatpicking seems to bring out its
sonant qualities and there is good separation between strings and between notes. It doesn't break up
or sound like a collection of indistinct tones as some smaller boxes might when pushed. The Taylor gig
bag is excellent as it was and is for the Baby Taylors. For the Mini it includes a neck support, a good safety
feature. Taylor markets a pickup for this guitar and I could see using it in performance, but I will keep
mine at home, right next to my bed, to pick up and play when a musical idea comes along. I recommend
the guitar to anyone looking for a decent travel size guitar with a big guitar feel. I won't give it five stars
because the woods used are not high quality, and seem a little on the thin side (which gives it a bigger
sound, but makes it more prone to damage or climatic factors). But overall, a decent and enjoyable guitar
at a good price.
Disclosure: I have smallish hands, so I like the reduced scale. Those with bit mitts might find it a
little harder to play the Mini.

The GS Mini is a terrific little instrument. Because of the Grand Auditorium shape, it doesn't look like a toy (e.g.,the Baby Taylor). The intonation is spot-on and with the short scale, it feels much "faster" than a full-sized guitar.

The sound is not as full or rich as a regular-sized Taylor, but what it lacks in subtlety, it makes up in volume...it's amazingly loud for a miniature guitar.

The gig bag is well made and has backpack straps, so there's no reason to leave it behind when you travel. I've had mine for about 3 weeks, and I haven't touched either of my full-sized guitars since I got it. It's really fun to play.

My only reservation would be to guitarists with exceptionally large hands or fingers. The fingerboard can get a little crowded.

Highly recommended and a great value.

I have had about a week to play with this guitar, and have to say that I am suprised, almost to the point of being overwhelmed with how fun it is to play. Because of the slightly smaller scale, it's very easy to play. The sound is very bright, and the volume is huge for such a small guitar.

I play a variety of styles, from mild/soft fingerstyle to hard strumming and picking bluegrass. The guitar fares very well at all of them, although big hard strums or hard driving bass rythms can get a little muddy (over driving the top a bit I guess), but this is not a negative, as the guitar behaves very well for it's price range and size. There aren't a lot of frills, which is a positive, helping to keep the price down. The top is spruce, and the back and sides are laminate. The neck, typical of just about every Taylor I've played is fantastic.

Being a big guy (6' 5") I found myself hunching a bit to play it comfortably sitting on my couch. I ended up putting a small pillow on my thigh to bring it up to a more comfortable level. I will fit a strap to help with this.

The included gig bag is nice looking and well made. would have been nice if they included a small zip pocket for picks or a tuner, but it serves it's purpose well.

The guitar is meant to be a traveler, and I would feel comfortable taking it as a carry on as long as i could hand carrry it and store it in an overhead or even better in the coat closet. I would not consider checking the guitar as baggage using the included gig bag. You would definitely need to find a more suitable case for a safe trip through the baggage carousel.

Bottom line, for the price, this guitar is a fantastic deal as a travel guitar, and it would not be a stretch to call it an every day player.

P.S.

Finally received my GS Mini (Which had been on order for 2 months) and it was worth the wait.
I own a number of full-sized taylor guitars (a T5 and a 612-CE) and was looking for a lower-cost acoustic I could throw in the car and take with me when traveling.
The GS mini comes with a nice soft-case (a step-above a gig bag IMHO) that has shoulder-straps and a big pocket on the front for tuner, cables, music, etc...
The guitar itself is a reduced scale, yet doesn't feel like a "toy" or kids guitar. The sound is impressive. Maybe not a s deep or rich as a full-sized GS or Dreadnought, but plenty full for its size.
The guitar arrived with basically a straight neck (no relief), which can cause some string buzz if you dig into it. But once the guitar acclimates to my house and the RH here in New England, I'll tweak the truss rod and give it a bit of relief.
Very easy to play up and down the neck, and yet doesn't feel too cramped due to the reduced scale.
All in all, for $500, this is a great guitar that I won't be afraid to drag with me on camping trips, airplanes, or wherever.
