I ordered this tub after spending the last year addicted to Proraso/C.O. Bigelow. While I love the morning "pick me up" from the mentholated Italian offering, I wanted to add in some variety.

I decided, after looking at several sites (badgerandblade.com, superlather.com, italianberber.com, etc...) that I would go with an English cream, as they got some of the best reviews. I looked at and vacillated between Taylor, Truefitt and Hill, and Geo F. Trumper. The latter two were prohibitively expensive, so I decided to go with one that was about half the price. I have always loved the smell of limes and citrus, and think it is actually a rather manly scent, so I ordered the Lemon/Lime variety. Oh boy...

While I have no complaints about the performance of the Taylor, I need to state that it certainly doesn't live up to my expectations of the traditions expressed from previous reviewers. Simply stated, it smells like Sprite. Flat Sprite. Flat Sprite that has sat in the sun and is starting to grow a thin film of algae on top. Well, the last may be extreme, but you get my drift. To summarize, I had high hopes for this cream. It surpasses my hopes for moisturizing and comfort, but the scent makes it hard for it to be a regular, everyday shave cream. I still find myself alternating between the Taylor, Proraso, and occasionally I toss in a Col. Conk shave soak, typically the almond or lime.

Hope this helps, but if not, then feel free to comment. Enjoy your shaves - they're with you all day!

I read the reviews and thought "that won't happen to me." Well, it did, when my cream arrived it was slopped to a side in a way that seemed unnatural, as if someone had scooped up a big chunk, I know because Ive received creams through UPS that had melted and they didn't look like this.

Furthermore, every time I receive a cream through USPS, it's NEVER melted. I don't know if it has to do with the "UPS creams" being in constant movement in a hot truck while the "USPS creams" stop so often at a warehouse or whatever but I have noticed that.

BTW this cream didnt have the consistency of having melted on the way. I know this because my previous (and only) TOBS cream had melted on the way to my house through UPS.

I really dont want to say the seller or somebody within the seller's company is tampering with these creams but I manually settled the cream and compared it to my other TOBS cream and this one had about a quarter less cream than my other TOBS cream... That I have used several times!!! You figure with the $8 price that all this is a little suspect.

To give the seller the -a little- benefit of the doubt, my other TOBS cream is avocado and it has a different consistency (fluffier or yogurty like) than this lemon-lime cream (harder, kinda like cream cheese) does and maybe that's the reason there's less cream, however, that would also mean it's less likely to melt as easy.

I just threw it away and purchased one from another seller. I really feel bad about making these allegations but It's just too much of a coincidence.

I'm a fan of Taylor, both the cream and the soap. I am delighted with the items and the wooden bowl for the soap puck. However, the cream had clearly melted and slopped partly out of it's plastic bowl. There was an indentation in the cream as if it had been touched.

Well first the aroma. A very light sweet lemon-lime. One reviewer suggested Sprite and he's right on with that suggestion. I was hoping for a more natural fragrance but I still like it.
The container was only about half full of soap. I received this order along with a container of Bond Street Coconut in the same box. The coconut was a full container. Not worth the effort to return as I don't really have time to fight traffic (Atlanta) to go to UPS or Postal Office.
It did shave nice however and produced a very good lather which is typical of TOBS.
