Product Description

Amazon.com Review

When there’s a pie in the oven and spaghetti boiling on the stovetop, this two-event timer tracks the cooking times for each dish independently so nothing overcooks. Each timer counts either up or down to 23 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds and beeps at the end of each elapsed time setting. When the timer is not in use, the gadget operates as a digital clock, reporting the current time in hours, minutes, and seconds in either a 12- or 24-hour display. The LCD screen displays an easy-to-view 1-inch readout and the timer itself can mount to a magnetized surface, clip to clothing, or stand on a tabletop. The instrument is simple to set and has easily identifiable buttons for the clock function, each of the two timers, hours, minutes, seconds. Additionally, a start/stop button pauses and resumes countdowns midway through the scheduled time and stops the alarm at the end of set time period. The timer also has a recall button that, when pressed once, remembers the last recorded time frame and, when pressed twice, clears the memory for resetting. The timer runs on a single AAA battery (included) and Taylor ensures complete accuracy in its readings through a one-year limited warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Timer and Intuitive Operation, January 26, 2006

This is a great timer and you can't do better for the money. I read other reviews and was nervous because some people said that you need to press a sequence of four buttons to get it to reset, but this is not true. For people who have a very hard time with gadgets it probably is harder to figure out, but I found it extremely intuitive. All you need to do is select either timer 1 or timer 2, and then you can operate it the same as any other timer. Very easy. The only thing that may confuse people is that recall and clear are the same button, so in order to clear the timer back to zero you press it twice (pressing it once will recall the previous amount of time that you programmed). The buttons are alos nice and big for people who care about that.

One nice thing is that timer 2 has a louder alarm than timer one, so you can decide whether you want a soft alert or a loud one. My only complaint is that the magnet is not quite strong enough for the size of this timer, so it wouldn't be hard to knock of the refrigerator. It seems hard to find a timer with a good enough magnet, mainly because timers seem to be getting larger without expanding the strength of the magnet. However, the stand is nice and solid for putting it on a countertop or table.

I didn't really need two timers, but this one is so cheap and works so well that having the spare is just a nice bonus. I highly recommend this item, as long as you have an average ability to figure out gadgets intuitively and as long as you don't need this to stay solidly in place with the magnet on the refrigerator.

2.0 out of 5 stars Fair UI -- Poor Physical Design, March 15, 2006

A double timer is a great idea, but this device turned out to not be a winner in practice. Clearing the timer and getting back to a clock display always seems to take one button press more than should be needed. The killer is that all of these button presses are around the EDGE of the timer, whereas the magnet/stand that should allow you to use it one-handed is in the MIDDLE of the back, providing no support for pressing those buttons. The second time I used it, pressing a timer button made it tilt against the front of the fridge, disconnecting the magnet, and dropping it six feet to the floor. Stupidly, I had already shredded the receipt, so I'm sure the karma was my fault anyway.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but fussy, December 28, 2005

This is a pretty good timer with two timing capability, but the only complaint I have with it is that you have to push a minimum of four different buttons just to stop the timer and get it to stop the led screen from flashing. However, it has very nifty features and the sound of the timer is not too irritating. Also, the five minute warning is very useful.
