My husband and I said that we were sure we would really like the Christmas presents we got each other. Imagine my surprise when I opened a wireless weather station. Imagine his surprise when he opened the Taylor Wireless Weather Station with Clock. We decided to keep both and put one in the front and one in the back. Our back yard faces North and has a dry wash behind it where the cold air collects. Our front yard faces South and has been averaging 7 to 10 degrees warmer in the day time and 4 to 5 degrees warmer at night. The Taylor Station has more features and was a little more complicated to set up but the directions were good and it is working fine. We were pleased that we could plug it in to an electrical outlet and not depend just on batteries.

I recieved this as a gift. I like everything about it except the little screws on the back of the remote temp unit are a real pain to get back in to place after you set it up. The functionality of this weather station is great. You can read the temp and humidity on the remote units as well as the main unit. The atomic clock works just fine. I still have to read the manual more to see what all the functions are, but so far everything is just great!

While researching the correct thermometer, I was attracted to the (apparent) interface on this product. I like that the remote sensor displays the temperature but it does so in a font size so small you have to be within 18 inches to read. The main station does not display both indoor temp and outdoor temp at the same time! Bummer. My intent was to be able to glance at this and see what was going on and you have to walk up and toggle the temp mode button to switch between outdoor and indoor. Also, I don't believe the humidity reading is accurate; I had the sensor outside under roof during a summer rain storm and the humidity was < 60% where it clearly should have been ~100%. The bar lights are lame and take up too much display space.
Two stars because of all of the above and the fact that I paid double for this than for most other ones.

I placed the outdoor module next to the indoor module and waited a few hours for the readings to equalize. They never did. The outdoor module settled at a temperature reading 2 degrees higher and a humidity reading 3% lower that the indoor module.Pros: - Easy to read display. - Atomic clock synced up ok. - Remote module connected ok. - Can display dew point and heat index. (From what I have read, dew point is a better predictor of how humid the air feels.) - Both the indoor and outdoor units can be set on a table top or wall mounted. Cons: - Not accurate. - The bar displays take up a lot of display space that could be used to display other info such as dew point, head index, max and low readings. - All temperature readings display in the left and relative humidity on the right. As a result you cannot simultaneously display the temperature and dew point (dew point displays as a temperature). - Min and max readings need to be reset manually (as far as I can tell), would prefer automatic reset every 24h. - The display is a little too bright for the nightstand next to the bed. |
