The TaylorMade Men's r5 Dual Type D Driver features widely spaced, pre-configured and permanent dual TaylorMade Launch Control (TLC) cartridges that position weight to promote a higher moment of inertia (MOI). With this technology, the r5 delivers increased forgiveness and proper clubhead rotation to promote a draw-bias that will help your drives stick to the fairway. The combination of a large head size and the precisely positioned TLC cartridges result in an outstanding forgiveness, stability, and remarkably long, straight results--even from off-center hits.

At 450 cc, the clubhead is exceptionally large and the club face features an expanded hitting area. This combination creates a substantial look-at address that promotes confidence, solid contact, and consistently straighter shots. This club is designed to propel your drives longer and farther, and the appearance with a large head and face, helps support the design and give you confidence on the links. TaylorMade went with the "pulled-heel" clubhead shape for the r5. This shape helps position a low center of gravity (CG) that is close to the heel of the clubhead to promote proper rotation. With this driver, you'll find it much easier to launch the ball on a high trajectory with distance-producing drawspin. Not everyone can hit the ball clean with each swing. TaylorMade knows this and has employed the Inverted Cone Technology (ICT) that expands the COR (Coefficient of Restitution) to produce greater ball velocity on off-center hits, resulting in consistently longer drives.

This right-handed driver is available with a 9.5- or 10.5-degree loft and a stiff or regular flex shaft.

What is the Coefficient of Restitution (COR)?
The Coefficient of Restitution, referred to as COR in golf circles, is a measurement of the clubface's ability to rebound the ball, expressed as a percentage that is determined by a ball's speed off the clubhead divided by the speed at which it struck the clubhead. The crept into popular golf vernacular with the rise of ultra-thin-faced drivers. An effect of thin faces is known as the "spring-like effect" or "trampoline effect"--the face of the driver depresses as the ball is struck, then rebounds. This provides adds a little extra power to the shot, and a driver that exhibits this property will have a very high COR. Of course, the USGA has imposed maximum CORs to level the "spring-like effect" playing field. For a club to be allowed under USGA rules, it must have a maximum COR of 0.830.
