Taylormade Burner-Good for Some, Bad for Others,
This review is from: TaylorMade Men's Burner 460 Ti Driver (Sports)
Taylormade's Burner 460 Ti Driver features a distinctive oval shaped head specially designed to create a deep center of gravity and a high moment of inertia for a higher launch angle. Its 460cc club head matches the limits the PGA tour set on club head size. Its extra long and light shaft is designed to increase club head speed.I was initially excited when I heard Taylormade was bringing back their Burner series. I switched from the Titleist 983k to the Burner with the hopes of increasing my distance off the tee. I purchased the 8.5 degree with the stiff Fujikura shaft. I saw no change in distance, but rather experienced a much higher ball flight. I used the club for a month and then determined that the extraordinarily high ball flight hurt my game more than it helped. For this reason, I gave my club to my dad and he had it reshafted to a regular Fujikura. My dad, a low ball hitter, saw a much higher trajectory accompanied by a tremendous increase in distance and is currently very satisfied with the club. Overall, the club is designed for the higher handicapped golfer. It has a large sweet spot and its misses are not as drastic. Control of the club, however, is an issue. Its weight and moment of inertia are not suitable for a highball hitter like myself. This driver is a definite buy for a low ball hitter seeking more distance. However, you should not buy this club if you already have a high trajectory.

Club is the best driver I have hit in many years. Playing companions agree that I am driving the ball straighter and much more consistant than I had been. Also the good news is that I have NOT lost any distance while being more consistant. Club appearance and specs result in a better club. Only negative is the grip was tough on the hands - switched to a WINN grip. Club purchased was 10.5 loft with "R" shaft. Currently playing to a 14 handicap.

I love this driver. I hit the ball straighter, about 20 yards farther, and best of all my back doesn't hurt as bad after a game. This is because the club swings itself...it has a very friendly weight distribution and sends the ball soaring. I got the 9.5 with the stiff shaft.

I recently purchased the Burner after having not hit driver for many years because of a slice. I must say that I am very pleased with the Burner as I have added fifty (50) yards or more as compared to the three-wood that I was hitting and my slice has not returned. I am now the envy of the other members of my standard four-some and two of them are looking into getting a Burner. The best news is that, based on my results with the Burner, I have moved up a flight in my golf league.

This is amongst the easiest drivers to hit that I have ever had. If this driver has an Achilles heel, it's that you shouldn't over swing with it. Swing easy and through and this driver will take you down the center of the fairway. It plays accurately; i.e., if you purchase a 9.5 degree, it will give you the corresponding trajectory. Nice club for the mid to low handicap golfer.

I bought this burner a month ago, second time on the course I had 5 >280 drives! One is on the green, another is less than 2 yards on the edge, the 3rd is about 10 yards from the green! I tried big bertha for about two months before I bought burner, both are good, but burner gives me extra 10 to 20 yards.

Although expensive, the Taylor Burner 460 Ti has improved my drives significantly and is well worth it.

I bought this though Amazon @ Rock Bottom Golf([...]) I couldn't find a better price. The first time I hit it, about 20 yards longer down the middle. How can you beat that!!

I always believed that the complaint about the "bad equipment" was just a bad golfer making excuses. With this driver, I am a believer. I have easily added 30 yards to my drives. It is a great confidence builder.
