5.0 out of 5 stars Penta reporting for duty !!!
I am really starting to like this ball. The overall performance is simply terrific. My normal drives from the tee box play a strong hook and now with the Penta my tee shots are on the fairway. I was determined to stop playing other golf balls besides my Z-star, but I knew the Z star was not giving me enough spin around the green. I tend to find myself chipping alot...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not happy about the packaging
When you spend almost $40 for a dozen golf balls for a gift you would think they would take care in there packaging! The outside box is all bent and scratched. Not happy giving this as a gift!!!! Looks used!

5.0 out of 5 stars Penta reporting for duty !!!, September 28, 2010
This review is from: TaylorMade Penta TP Golf Balls (1 Dozen) (Sports)
I am really starting to like this ball. The overall performance is simply terrific. My normal drives from the tee box play a strong hook and now with the Penta my tee shots are on the fairway. I was determined to stop playing other golf balls besides my Z-star, but I knew the Z star was not giving me enough spin around the green. I tend to find myself chipping alot off the fringe and my first chip shot with the Penta landed 2 inches from the hole, something I never did with my other golf balls. Somehow it seems this ball is intuitive because it does what you ask it to do. It almost seems to be very forgiving too....I can't explain it any futher until you try it out for yourself....trust me.
I do notice however that it seems a little clunky or thick, but I think with time that will go away. What I am after is lower scores and more confidence on the tee and around the greens. Regarding putting, the Penta truly shines in giving me a true, muted, and straight putt with my Cameron.
All my approach shots have landed safely with very little back or front spin, and I am happy for that in my game. My swing speed is 100mph with my driver and distance compared to the Z-star is the same. With only playing two rounds with the Penta, I would advise this ball as living it up to the hype that Talor Made proclaims. I know the price is on the high end as compared to the PRO-V1, but I want to say that Penta has a slight better edge in performance than the Pro-V1 off the tee, simply because it spins less. I do recommend the Penta over any other ball in the market, except the Pro-V1.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Penta is Pentabulous!, July 28, 2010
This review is from: TaylorMade Penta TP Golf Balls (1 Dozen) (Sports)
I used to play the TP Red and they replaced it with this ball. I got them as a prize in a scramble and was very pleasantly surprised when I started playing them. The hit very well from any club. Plenty of distance (I hit my driver over 310 and I didn't lose a yard), very forgiving on mishits, and they stop dead on the green even on low trajectory shots with my hybrid Adams A3 3-5 Irons. I plan to start playing these full time now that I have fallen completely in love with these. I only wish they were a tad bit less expensive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best ball I've played, March 27, 2011

This ball is the best I've ever played. It is really soft around the greens and is responsive to each different club. On off center shots it goes around the same distance, if not a little less. The ball is long off the tee and has little spin, but has a lot of spin with the wedges. I will never switch to another ball and am hooked on these. I do hope the price goes down a little, but overall the price is fair.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really nice all-around ball, October 15, 2010

Not sure if this went through the first time - computer brain freeze. Sigh. Hopefully it doesn't duplicate. Anyway....

I was skeptical of the hype, but this ball really does seem to do it all well. I used to play TP Reds, which came off the driver nicely but really didn't spin much on approach shots to the green. The Penta seems to fly just as well off the longer clubs and definitely has more stopping power than the TP Red. I've seen it favorably compared to the Pro V1 - and I don't think that's a stretch. It really is a great ball, and you don't have to be a scratch player to get the most out of it. Pricing has come down just a tad recently, so give them a try.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!, June 1, 2011

I actually bought these cause the price dropped to $39.99 for a dozen and I figured I normally pay $40-$60 for ProV1X's so why not try these out for a change. Well I was very pleased with this ball and love how soft these are. I can honestly say that I will probably use these from here on out. I still have 11 of these and bought a dozen about 2 months ago. These are by far one of the best golf balls I have used in a while.

5.0 out of 5 stars Penta vs. Pro V1, December 29, 2011
By
This review is from: TaylorMade Penta TP Golf Balls (1 Dozen) (Sports)
Price: $10 - $15 dollars cheaper per dozen.
Distance: Compares to Pro V1x / Longer than Pro V1
Spin: Compares to Pro V1x / Less spin than Pro V1
Durability: Much better than both ProV1 and ProV1x

The only real difference between the Pro V1 and the Penta is the same difference between the Pro V1 and Pro V1 around the greens. I don't play bump and run shots. (I just struggle when I try.) So I have to use a sharp sand wedge around the greens and fly the ball to the hole and make it stop. To do that I have to have a ball that spins a lot. The Penta works fine. Is it the same as a Pro V1 during the middle of July. Nope. However, I don't feel that it puts me at a disadvantage.

I'm an 8 handicapper. Is the Pro V1 or Pro V1x a better golf ball? Maybe. Can's say for sure one way or another. Is it worth it to pay $10 - $15 dollars more for a golf ball that might be better and is not as durable. I don't think so.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best golf ball ever!, June 23, 2011

I have tried MANY golf balls and this is by far the best. The farthest distance off of the tee and the MOST control around the greens. I could never spin the ball like the pros until I used this ball. Now I have to learn to control my spin. AWESOME!!! I will never buy another ball.

5.0 out of 5 stars Might make me switch from ProV1x..., June 26, 2011

This review is from: TaylorMade Penta TP Golf Balls (1 Dozen) (Sports)
I've been a ProV1/ProV1x player for years but I try every new ball that comes on the market. Nothing has ever been able to come close to knocking the Titleist out of the bag. The Penta TP might do the trick. It's just as long, if not slightly longer, than the ProV1x I normally play. It feels as nice off the irons and seems to cut through the wind a little better (definitely better than the 2010 ProV1x, only slight better than the 2011 model).

Putting was always were other balls would fall short of the ProV1x. This ball feels just as soft as the Titleist off the putter, which is huge for me.

Great ball and a great price (I think these can still be found at 3doz for $80 at most sporting goods stores).
