Down to earth sf novel with people you want in your family,

This review is from: Taylor's Ark (Paperback)
Story of working class people trying to make a living and see the universe. The separations are one that many young couples can identify with. It's nice to have ordinary people in a novel who beleive in love and loyalty. Of course, cute aliens don't hurt. There are no great truths to learn in this novel, (but you should already know them) and it has few real suprises, but its a relaxing read after a long day in your corporate jungle.

This book and its sequels "Medicine Show" and "The Lady and the Tiger" are medical science fiction at its best. The stories are driven by characters you will care about as you follow their adventures - rich, fully developed characters who grow in each book and as the series proceeds. The antagonists are driven by motives of their own, and are not mere one-dimensional 'evildoers'. The challenges faced by the protagonists are complex, and our heroes must stretch themselves to survive and accomplish their goals.Further, the character-driven nature of this series will appeal to science fiction fans and non-fans alike. Simply put, these are good stories. Acquire all three, clear your schedule, and enjoy.

Animals, conspiracy, and space. What could be a better combination for a relaxing read? Jody Lynn Nye has created a believeable world that could be our own if we were in space. Taylor is a space-doctor with animals that serve as intelligent walking laboratories. She also has a visitor from another planet who shares her love for candy. On Mars, waiting for her husband while pregnant, we learn all about red-tape and governmental restrictions. Taylor flees the planet, but falls into a strange series of problems that ultimately bring her fame... and just a little fortune.

I found myself getting really invested in the characters and creatures in this book. There seems to be more stories and adventures waiting out there for them. I'm waiting...
