More About the Author

A life-long gardener, Saxon Holt spent his professional time as a commercial photographer until 1985 when he discovered the gardening market and could no longer stay indoors. Living in Northern California he has found the combination of climate for plants and climate for adventuresome gardeners to be a constant source of inspiration.
Recent books, "Hardy Succulents" with Gwen Kelaidis (Storey Publishing 2008) and "Plants and Landscapes for Summer-Dry Climates" with the East Bay Municipal Utilitiies District (2005) both won awards from the American Horticultural Society and the Garden Writer of America for outstanding garden books.
His most recent book "The American Meadow Garden" with John Greenlee was released in November 2009 from Timber Press where he continues to explore the relationship between gardens and the land, seeking a sustainable aesthetic in context of a gardener's own intervention.
