ea. vol.: Chanticleer Pr.: Houghton. 1988. photogs. index. pap. $14.95. horticulture These latest additions in the popular series are based on Taylor's Encyclopedia of Gardening (Houghton, 1961. 4th ed.) . Taylor's Guide to Garden Design, featuring plant choices and culture information for 14 types of gardens, includes a section on landscaping with edible plants. Horticultural experts and landscape architects contributed to this book to aid gardeners in developing outdoor living spaces. Taylor's Guide to Trees includes an encylopedic section arranged by genus and species with detailed tree descriptions. Other sections provide tree culture information and color photos of trees. Along with two titles published in 1987, Taylor's Guide to Ground Covers, Vines, and Grasses and Taylor's Guide to House Plants , this series now totaling ten titles continues to provide gardeners with current information on gardening topics that are in demand in public libraries. 4.0 out of 5 stars Taylor's Guide to Trees, October 6, 2005
This review is from: Taylor's Guide to Trees (Taylor's Gardening Guides) (Paperback)
This tree book has been so helpful to my husband and I as we planned the landscaping of our new yard 6 years ago. So helpful, in fact, we recommend the book to friends who have also found it useful. The book is very helpful in describing what species of tree to plant for our zone. This small book is filled with very useful information. And, I like that the scientific names are used so that we do not make a mistake and purchase the wrong species. The book is filled with pictures and descriptions of what the tree will look like at maturity.

1.0 out of 5 stars Nearly useless, October 15, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Taylor's Guide to Trees (Taylor's Gardening Guides) (Paperback)
While the Taylor guide provides some useful information, such as how tall a tree may be at various ages, unless you know the latin name for the tree in question, it is nearly impossible to find anything!! Unless you're a botonist, don't buy it!
