I have been a tea drinker all my life (loose tea, not teabags), and this to me is the best Earl Grey I have ever tasted. I have bought this Taylors of Harrogate Earl Grey for years and despite occasionally trying a different brand, a different supplier, I am always coming back to this one.

The best I can describe it is: It is balanced. Not too strong a bergamot taste, but not too much plain tea taste either. I would also describe it as elegant and delicate. I find Earl Greys that do not strike this fine balance to be either bland/flat or overpowering, in any case one-dimensional. To my taste buds, this one is perfect and has just the right amount of both key ingredients.

Here are my tips to enjoy this tea to the fullest. I apologize if some of this seems self-evident, but I have encountered so many people who just did not know enough about tea, and then blamed it on the product that I want to make sure I am mentioning the key points:

1. Storage
I keep my tea in the bag that it originally came in inside the box, and also clip it shut to preserve the aroma. When it comes to tea, it is critical to keep it away from light and to keep the storage container tightly shut. Also try to use up your tea in a reasonable amount of time or it will eventually go flat and old.

2. Brewing
Use about 1 teaspoon per cup, and if you can, use filtered water (such as Brita-filtered, etc.). Then brew your tea with boiling water! And I mean boiling, not almost boiling.

If you want to do it perfectly, give the tea leaves plenty of space - tea eggs are not the best choice to get the most flavorful taste. Ideally you will want to let the leaves float freely in the pot and then, after steeping, pour the tea through a strainer. But large tea filters also work.

I have traveled the world of earl grey tea varieties and there are many good ones (and even more bad). However, I have never had a tea that registered near perfection like this one. I have been sipping this tea for nearly a decade and it is absolutely outstanding (and had fantastic experiences ordering it through Amazon). I highly recommend it. I do always warn folks to avoid tea bag teas in general since they are mostly created using the lowest quality tea leaves ("tea dust"), so invest in a tea stick (Google it) and enjoy loose leaf varieties so you can have a cup of tea at it's highest quality. For what it is worth, never allow the tea leaves to sit in your hot water for more than three minutes (less than half that time for a cup rather than a tea pot full). Enjoy!

After the demise of the Williamson & Magor brand,I've been on the hunt for a replacement earl Grey tea. Today my quest has ended! Taylors of Harrogate loose leaf earl Grey is made from full tea leaves not bits and dust. Most importantly, they use "REAL" oil of bergamot, the ingredient that makes an earl Grey tea well, earl Grey tea. Nowadays, Many manufacturers are replacing it with an artificial flavoring that may smell similar, but quickly loses it's taste when heated and becomes VERY,VERY bitter if steeped for more than 3min. This Taylors of Harrogate loose leaf earl Grey tea is extremely aromatic and it's floral/citrus notes from genuine bergamot oil is unsurpassed, flavorful, and very forgiving if over steeped! I Would give it ten stars if I could! High quality product.

This was the best Earl Grey Leaf Tea I have ever had. A delightful aroma of the bergomot and a nice cup of tea to enjoy while reading. This is unlike any prepackaged Earl Grey tea, it is more subtle and enjoyable. Truely a great cut of tea can be brewed from the Earl Grey Leaf Tea.

We have been drinking loose earl grey tea for several years & this is not one of our favorites.
It smells good but taste bitter & is best mixed with another Earl grey tea.

7/30/11 Changed mind, after trying it awhile it seem to improve in taste. Maybe after having
a little air mixed with it made a difference ( like wine).

This is Earl Grey tea with NATURAL oil of bergamot not the synthetic oil of bergamot that most other Earl Grey teas have. And when you compare the taste between the two, you'll see there's a significant difference. This is really fabulous tea.

This tea has a beautiful aroma of bergemot. It is by far the best Earl Grey I've found...and I've tried many. The loose leaf is far better than the bags. If you are buying it for under $8.00 a box, that is a good deal!

This is a very distinctively flavored earl grey -- very heavy on the bergamot...not for the faint of heart. It is my very favorite breakfast tea.
