Taylors of Harrogate Yorkshire Gold tastes even smoother than the Taylors English Breakfast.

I must admit to being a bit of a tea connoisseur. I tend to like fragrant teas but I like a base of robustness to stand up to milk. I have drunk the Yorkshire Gold tea in bags at the office, and I thought I'd try this as a base for mixing with my other teas. I have to say that it is not as smooth and tasty as the Taylors of Harrogate Kwazulu, which Amazon also carries, but it certainly does the job of an above average black breakfast tea. It's also fine alone but would do best in the English style cup with milk.

Yorkshire Gold is one of my favorite breakfast teas. I like my tea strong, so I use two heaping measuring teaspoons for a 12 ounce tea pot. After preheating the pot with boiling water for one minute, I empty the pot, add the tea, fill of the pot with boiling water and let the tea steep for 5 minutes. Meanwhile I nuke a little milk in the microwave in my mug. I then add the tea to my mug, together with a packet of Splenda. The result is an excellent mug of breakfast tea, malty and rich tasting. It may not be as refined in flavor as teas one can buy from a specialty tea website, but it's great for the price.

I don't like wimpy teas. This is a robust & flavorful blend. I'm mostly planning on using this to make iced tea. I made a gallon just yesterday, and it turned out very well. I used the below mentioned brewing basket, used hot water, and let it steep for a few hours out in the sun.

The leaves are fairly small, so as another reviewer said, you probably won't want to use a typical tea ball.

This one works great, and is 10$ : Finum 63 421 50 00 Brewing Basket

From a price perspective, this is an excellent value. This is 1 kg - about 2.2 lbs. Seems like most loose-leaf teas run about 15$/lb.

I have no complaints about this. I'll be back for more when what I have is exhausted.

This is a wonderful full-bodied tea, perfect for your morning cup. I can't start my day without it. It also makes outstanding, very flavorful iced tea. (I use 7 tsp for a half gallon pitcher of iced tea.) It is finely cut, so a tea ball won't work well with it, but a good brew basket will keep even these fine leaves out of your cup. This one works beautifully in a mug or pot:
Teeli Brew Basket by Finum - Tea Infuser Filter Strainer Large Size

To avoid bitterness in this or any tea, bring your water to a boil first, but then remove from heat for one minute before pouring the water over the tea.

I love Yorkshire tea, but I also love my teapot and basket. I prefer not to use bags. When I saw Taylors of Harrogate had Yorkshire tea loose leaf, and at a good price, I jumped at it! Unfortunately, unlike other high quality teas, Taylors just took the pulverized tea leaves out of the filter tea bags and threw it in this big bag and mailed it. This stuff goes straight through your tea basket filter and into your tea. It is too small to swell up quickly enough to stay in the basket. VERY dissatisfied. Every other loose leaf tea I've gotten from Amazon is, in fact, leaf, not processed small pellets.

Great breakfast tea, not as strong as some of the Twinings breakfast, but not as bitter, either. Seems to make good tea at lower water temperatures compared to other black teas, which is good for me since the hot water tap on the office water cooler is not very hot. Very economical in the large bags of loose leaf. I use a Swiss Gold infuser which does a good job on the fine cut teas like this one.

As a black tea aficianado, I have tried them all, esp. in my efforts to find a tea for all time or one that I will return to again and again. As fate would have it,I stumbled upon Taylors and Harrogate Yorkshire Gold Tea while browsing in an English import shop. I bought a bag and loved it from my very first cup. Although it's not organic which would give it 6 stars in my evaluation, it's deep in flavor and smooth and has become my everyday tea. As cabernet is to red wine, as dark French roast is to coffee, as 70% chocolate is to chocolate, Yorkshire Gold is to tea.

Yes, as other reviewers have noted, this gives a robust cup of tea that stands up well to milk. What strikes me as simply deceptive advertising, though, is the term "leaf tea". This is actually CTC. Apparently Taylors of Harrogate doesn't want to own up to that.
