5.0 out of 5 stars Da Bomb!
I really love how she continues to expand her music and take it to different directions! She mixes flamenco, Spanish music, dance and pop so well! Very well done.

3.0 out of 5 stars While some songs sparkle others fizzle....
I hadn't really heard Olga before I received this album as a gift. All I knew was that she was a huge hit in Puerto Rico as well as the international scene. I wasn't sure what to expect. Unfortunately, this is one of the more uneven CDs of "Musica Latina" that I have in my collection.

Though, Olga Tañón has a powerful voice and she definitely...

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Hot !!!, June 17, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Te Acordaras De Mi (Audio CD)
This is Olga Tanon's most recent release. It contains a nice mix of fast flamenco style dance music, techno sounding love songs and romantic pop ballads. The song "Tu Amor" is a techno-flamenco marvel. The lyrics are sooo passionate and the beat just grabs you and won't let go. I listen to it every morning. Olga has a fabulously powerful voice, but she can also bring out the emotions in the softest ballad. "Hielo Y Fuego" is also wonderful; the tempo changes and versatility of her band make this song unique. And of course, "La Magia del Ritmo" won't let you sit still. The final track, "Un Hombre Y Una Mujer" is a warm and romantic love song which really showcases Olga's rich smooth voice. I highly recommend this album although it has a different feel than her earlier Merengue albums. !Ay que lindo!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Olga CD to Date!, December 14, 1999
By
Te Rodriguez (San Juan, Puerto Rico) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Te Acordaras De Mi (Audio CD)
"Te Acordaras de Mi" is the absolute best Olga Tanon CD to date, and is definitley a merengue classic. Though it definitley is different from even her last release, "Llevame Contigo", it is a GREAT CD. "Tu Amor" is a wonderful song with some great mixing in it that was a great lead-off single. Olga's duet with Cristian Castro, "Escondidos", is a beautiful love song that shows just how strong Olga's voice really is. She shines in the songs "Hielo Y Fuego", "La Magia del Ritmo", and "El Nino", shows how to pull of a rap beat in "Como Pude Haber Vivido Sin Ti", does an Spanish take on an English song in "Voy a Sacarte de mi Mente", and sings of two star-crossed lovers in "Un Hombre Y Una Mujer". But my personal favorite on this album is the title track, a power ballad where Olga Tanon really shines. Though this album doesn't have all the merengue feel and spirit to it, and totally shows that you really can outdo yourself in every way. A+!

5.0 out of 5 stars Olga can do anything..., May 23, 2001
This review is from: Te Acordaras De Mi (Audio CD)
Known for her merengue, Olga proves with this pop CD that she can succeed in any musical style. There are twelve songs on here that alternate between more danceable numbers and ballads. The opening track, "Tu Amor" has a driving flamenco beat, and is the definite standout. Her voice is beautiful, and her style is hard to resist. This is truly one of the best Latin-pop CD's I own and would recommend.

3.0 out of 5 stars While some songs sparkle others fizzle...., June 9, 2004
This review is from: Te Acordaras De Mi (Audio CD)
I hadn't really heard Olga before I received this album as a gift. All I knew was that she was a huge hit in Puerto Rico as well as the international scene. I wasn't sure what to expect. Unfortunately, this is one of the more uneven CDs of "Musica Latina" that I have in my collection.

Though, Olga Tañón has a powerful voice and she definitely isn't shy about belting it out, there are times where a little goes a LONG way! On some of the tracks, I wanted to yell "Ya! Basta!" (Enough, already!) When she tries to be expressive it almost comes out as hollow as a cat screaming on a hot tin roof. ("Cómo Pude Haber Vivido Sin Ti," "Diálogo Mudo," "Voy a Sacarte De Mi Mente") Other tracks are catchy mostly because of the arrangements and the catchy fusion of merengue and latin pop ("Tu Amor," "Hielo y Fuego"). This album is not for all tastes and is, in my opinion, far too poppy! I prefer music with more "sabor" (the sound of the timbales, the heartbeat of the drum, son montuno, salsa) to the canned sound of more Anglo rhythms. This is not for all tastes. Sorry, Olga!

3.0 out of 5 stars Adequate, March 30, 2002
By
This review is from: Te Acordaras De Mi (Audio CD)
I bought this on the strength of Tu Amor. Unfortunately that is the only song holding this album's head above water, and it's not enough. The rest is pure filler, ranging from badly written ballads about love, to other badly written ballads about love--topped off with a bizzare rendition of King Of Wishful Thinking, a hokey '80s song which spanish manages to make even hokier.
