5.0 out of 5 stars To easy to dismiss on the first few listens...
After hearing the lushness of the first 20 seconds you'll feel you're in for a future Prince classic....and then you get lost..confused...bored..and finally disappointed.
After several more listens it grows on you like when doves cry, sign o the times etc did all those years ago. In fact the reason it takes so long to appreciate is that it challenges the listener...

3.0 out of 5 stars A typical Prince ballad, but better than your average mess...
After seeing the highly stylized video for "Te Amo Corazon", I loved the video, & thought the ballad was okay. That being said, this ballad while predictable succeeds on it's merit of being better than a lot of the ballads that R&B men are singing now. Mostly because it employs a more organic approach, it's latin flares undeniably soft & pleasant. Prince's falsetto...

After hearing the lushness of the first 20 seconds you'll feel you're in for a future Prince classic....and then you get lost..confused...bored..and finally disappointed.
After several more listens it grows on you like when doves cry, sign o the times etc did all those years ago. In fact the reason it takes so long to appreciate is that it challenges the listener to break from the mould of verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, chorus which has infested the pop world for the past 25 years (including prince's music). Instead Prince has constructed this song with beautiful elements that need time to recognise - the sweet guitar solo accompanied with the melodic mumblings, the insatiable groans that infuse more erotic passion than the shamelessly explicit lyrics currently dominating the r&b world (which ironically Prince had mastered himself) as well as the latin horn which is only heard in the last few seconds of the song. Romantic, sweet and lush - the purple one continues to shock, frustrate, challenge and mesmerise his audience - but isn't that what makes him so great??

5.0 out of 5 stars "Slow Seduction", December 20, 2005
This review is from: Te Amo Corazon (Audio CD)
"Te Amo Corazon" is another musical masterpiece conceived, nurtured and birthed from the very soul of its creator, Prince. Yes, it is a LOVE song, but certainly not an ordinary one by any stretch of the imagination. This ballad is a lush, seductive orchestration filled with passionate vocals and brilliant lyrics. At first, your ears deceive you into believing the sentiments expressed are delivered in a somewhat and unsually subdued manner for Prince, but listen closely and you realize the true intensity of the emotions conveyed.

"Te Amo Corazon" is a LOVE song that only the likes of an artist and true musician of Prince's caliber could bring to fruition so enchantingly, so that with every subsequent listen you are drawn further and deeper into the harmonies and melodies of this creation.

Prince uses his incomparable voice to paint a picture that appears to be so simple, but in truth, is so beautifully complex: richly inlaid undertones of desire and need... comfort and security... sexuality and spirituality... purity and ecstasy, all the things that make LOVE, giving and receiving it, so wonderful and so risky. Through Prince's eloquent vocals, you are enveloped in this sense of peace and sanctuary, passion and deliverance. It conveys a sense of forever... love that will never die, even if it is never realized.

"Te Amo Corazon" has definite heat and like a moth to a flame, you cannot help but feel it. Prince evokes and punctuates these feelings through his guitar work, playing the strings as an expert lover always does. It is here you feel the irresistible aching that sets one on fire, allowing you to experience the true core of this magnificent song. Pulled into the slow seduction of the fantasy that Prince is trying to weave, it is almost like a daydream, you can see it: Two souls, ONE in Love - dancing under the stars of a moonlit Moroccan night to the music that plays in their minds set to the beat of each other's hearts.

It is simply amazing - as enigmatic and intoxicating as Prince himself is.

5.0 out of 5 stars A song that will make you swoon., January 6, 2006

Since Prince does not get the same amount of radio airplay that he used to, it is up to the listener to give it a number of listens before deciding whether they like it or not. At first I didn't think much of it, but now it works like magic for me. The tempo of this song is slow, but it radiates sublime tranquility. I can feel the love expressed in this song in my heart. It is like a warm and sweet embrace that assures me that everything will be alright when things don't seem to be looking up. That's why I bought 2 copies. Yeap, I like that much.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Work of Art., December 26, 2005

This is Prince at his very best. A beautiful taste for what is to come (3121). This song will, indeed, be considered one of his many great ballads. If this is what Prince has for us in the future, then sign me up for another decade of great music from Prince.

It is almost two years since Prince released Musicology - his last "proper" album. Now the time has come for 3121, which is planned for release early next year. Te Amo Corazon heralds the coming of the latest installment of Prince's genius. Covered with lush strings, mellow, Latin-inspired drum work, bizarre guitar licks, and touching piano chords, Te Amo Corazon unveils as one of the most focused, accessible, easy-listening, but nonetheless complex and deep songs Prince has ever written. The song oozes atmosphere of love and passion and makes you wonder what it takes for the artist inspiration-wise to come up with such a gem.

I first heard this song on a jazz station. I wasnt sure who it was but it was familiar. I heard the next chorus and then I knew it was he. Definitely Prince. Definitely worth buying. I now have his CD 3121 and it is also a new classic. Every track is indisputably Prince. Buy them both!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good adult contemporary song, January 3, 2006

This review is from: Te Amo Corazon (Audio CD)
I have heard this song on VH1 a few times and am very impressed. This is a slow latin ballad from the purple one which I rate as one of his best compositions. The music is mature and cultured. I feel Prince gets better with each album. This is more adult contemporary than pop. Don't buy if you want Britney style music, you may not be ready for this.

This is something different for the purple prince. I find the song quite beautiful and moving. I hope he keeps making music like this in the future.

Because I am a professional pianist (classical), I cannot help but analyze things on a different level which other musicians understand. I must say that the album as a whole was weak with very few interesting musical ideas, but this song is one of the best on the album. It is wonderfully crafted and beautifully detailed as most Prince tunes usually are. It not only is musically interesting, but has traditional beauty and elegance as well. Just another great song, as if Prince didn't have enough already. For all those who appreciate the musicianship of Prince, this is something you must have.

Prince's falsetto stills sounds fresh as it did back in his glory days.

I read one review where mistermaxxx, was under the delusion that R.Kelly (a producer whose peek was only during the 1990's, predominately with urban artists) that he needed R.Kelly's production. Well, that's funny because Prince defined MUSIC in the 1980's & the changed the game long before "R.Kelly" came along. That being said, "Te Amo Corazon" floats by on a post-"Adore" & "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World" (two of his finest ballads?) cloud. It's pretty while playing, but may not stick until repeated listening reveal the sonic treasures that lie within the track itself.

The album "3121" should be interesting & while "Te Amo Corazon" may be the mediocre taster, it sure got my tongue wet enough for the album. Give the cut a second spin.
