This review is from: Tea: Essence of the Leaf (Paperback)
I saw this book at a friend's house and paged through it. It is a beautiful, small volume of photos, information, and recipes. I copied out two recipes to try at home--so many looked great but I wanted to check them out. The one I tried, green tea salad, was wonderful and sold me the book. I'm on-line now to get my own copy.

A good primer on tea, with some interesting recipes,

_Tea: Essence of the Leaf_ (Tea: Essence of the Leaf) by Sara Slavin and Karl Petzke is, as the title indicates, all about tea. Where it's grown, how it's graded, its history as it's been introduced to different regions, and the major types. It's a brief but very broad introduction to the subject of tea. It also has many stunning beautiful photographs and some very good recipes for cooking with tea (which are hard to find).
I do wish it had a better table of contents and index. That is why I give it four stars and not five. But overall, a good book to have about tea. My copy was a gift from a good friend who runs her own tea shop.

The Same Old, and Some Recipies,

If you're at all "in" to tea then you probably already know most of the information contained in this book. This is a basic primer on tea: how it's grown, processed, prepared, and enjoyed. Scattered throughout this information literary passages relating to tea, recipies that incorporate tea, and absolutely beautiful photographs. Indeed, the photographs are essential to enjoyment of the book. I would recommend this book to someone who's just gaining an interest in tea and wants a one-stop source for basic information. Tea afficionadoes will likely find little they don't already know, though the recipies do sound good, and I'm planning to try some of them.
