2.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected, April 16, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Tea at Glenbrooke: A Quiet Place Where Souls Are Refreshed (Hardcover)
I have read and loved the books in Mrs. Gunn's "Glenbrooke" series, and I was hoping to find illustrations of the homes and gardens in fictional Glenbrooke, Oregon. I was seeking the recipes mentioned, but not provided, in the Glenbrooke books. I thought that the characters would be mentioned, or that their relationships might be elaborated upon...I was sadly disappointed. This is a lovely gift book, filled with brief, warm reflections on the author's own special moments revolving around the tea ritual. The illustrations are colorful and peaceful. The recipes look well-devised and tempting, though, I must admit, I have not tried any. This is a delightful book for people interested in "taking tea" with the author. But, I am sad to say, the relationship this book has to the Glenbrooke series is tangential at best.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful book, September 28, 2002
This review is from: Tea at Glenbrooke: A Quiet Place Where Souls Are Refreshed (Hardcover)
This attractive little book is so wonderfully eclectic! It represents the author's idea of what it's like when women come together over a cup of tea. Well, as a fan of tea and tearooms, I can tell you that tea brings this out in all of us!

Anyway, this book is a wonderful collection of poems, recipes, and touching musings and anecdotes. All of this is complemented by the charming watercolor illustrations by Susan Mink Colclough. This is a wonderful book, one that you should read outside, on a sunny day, with a cup of Earl Grey in your hand!

5.0 out of 5 stars All that I wish, but may not have......, March 19, 2003

Do you long for the porch swing, but don't have the porch? Do you love beautiful gardens, but, like me, are an inept gardner?
Do you need just a miniscule time of refreshment? May I recommend Robin Jones Gunn's book, TEA AT GLENBROOKE? This is a lovely book to both have and to give. I gave myself this book as as Christmas present. Now, I plan on giving this book to my friends who need that brief moment of escape into the peaceful world found in this book. The musings, the artwork, and the recipes offer something for all. To those who buy it, may I just say: "Enjoy!"
