The subject matter and story in this book are great. It is a commendable effort to expose the truths about Islam. But the writing is at a very elementary level which is insulting to most adult readers.
And it is difficult to read through all of the grammatical errors. A writer should know whether the word 'its' needs an apostrophe or not...

The authors of this book have the guts to speak the truth about Islam. They skipped being politcally correct and went straight to the root of today's terrorism. It's obvious that the authors did their homework before writing this book. I find it funny that some of the other reviewers have resorted to name calling and character bashing rather that offering a shred of honest contradiction. Christians who read this book will have their faith refreshed, non-believers will start thinking about salvation, and the politicians will be angry that the authors have written the truth and offered them a solution. You will be horrified by the insanity revealed in this story, and hopefully you will be calmed as well by the solution to the problem.

5.0 out of 5 stars The TRUTH hurts., December 11, 2002

And these authors have done a highly commendable job of uncovering the truth. It should be required reading for everyone - especially politicians. They are the ones that can change today to avoid this future scenario. I thought the book well written and very informative. It presents the facts in everyday laymans terms that anyone can understand. And everyone needs to understand. Their interpretations of Islam reveal everything the terrorists don't want us to know and just how brainwashed millions of people are. The Qu'ran and the Hadith are a joke - manifestos for terror. It is about time they were revealed for what they are...and about time for people to listen. It is very difficult to read this as fiction. I have already recommended it to numerous people and will continue to do so.

There are many good books exposing Islam out there. Annis Shorrosh and Ergun Caner are ex-Muslims who have become Christians and have written excellent theological summaries from first-hand perspectives about Islam. Winn and Power have written a similar book but within the framework of a novel that all-too-often has fiction standing at the front door of reality.

There are many people who will read a novel but will not read a non-fiction book about Islam. From that standpoint, this book is important to have available for such readers. For more scholarly books on Islam, I would recommend Shorrosh or Caner. That being said, Winn's novel blew me away and had me on the edge of my seat for days. If you won't read anything else on Islam, read "Tea with Terrorists."

Winn's book is about an American hero and his love interest who are forced to research the history and theology of Islam before it destroys America. The facts they find about Muhammad and the Koran are beyond the ability to describe in this review. The bible tell us that Satan is a deceiver and a liar. Nowhere is this more true than in the deception of billions of Muslims with Islam. Equally shocking is the deception of the American people from the American media who are controlled by the petrodollars of Arab kingdoms. America is literally over a barrel (of oil). The American public doesn't want the truth because it is too difficult to accept. We want to keep driving our SUV's and go about our merry way. We want to believe that the world is one and everyone wants peace. That is a very appealing dream world but is quite wrong. Denial is not a river in Egypt !!

The book is also quite perceptive that President Bush's war on terrorism is perhaps sincere but misguided. Capturing Saddam or Osama might make Americans feel good but those events are hollow victories. The enemy is still Islam and the message of hate from the Koran will not go away. Winn speculates President Bush will go down in history as failing to have the courage to identify the enemy because being politically correct and winning reelection is more important to him than accepting the clear evidence that Islam is the enemy. Winn also chides Americans for not recognizing world history that the rise of Nazism in the 1930's is closely akin to that of Islam in the past decade. Both are dead set against the Jews. History teaches man learns nothing from history and the struggle with Islam may very well lead the world into the final countdown towards Armageddon.

I was the first to be skeptical of Winn and Power preaching to me about the hazards of Islam. After all, aren't these two of the guys from ValueAmerica that helped prick the Internet bubble that produced the paper loss of hundreds of billions to major pension funds as well as the lone investor in late 1999? They may have not been saints in their past lives or at best, unprepared opportunists laced with greed, but they must have had a change of heart. Like the Apostle Paul, I think Winn may have had a "Damascus Road" experience and has seen the light. Why else take the risk? Winn could sip mint julips the rest of his life with his millions and not have to invite such controversy. I only wish he had included a statement of faith of what he does believe in the foreword to the book. I don't know what would prompt guys who walked away from the Internet bubble with a fortune to take the risk of writing a book like this? Seems like the Muslims would want to string them up on a cross like the heroes in the book. But they are right on with their analysis about the media and the christian establishment that has put peace and unity above biblical truth.

The only knocks on the book is that it could have easily have been at least 50 pages shorter. The hero in the book rails on the Koran as being repetitive while commiting the same crime himself. In addition, the overt Republican agenda presented by the protagonist as he is running for president is a little over the top. I would agree with much of it (in a perfect world) but Winn is a bit idealistic about the compassion of America's wealthiest: The rich tend to be a little tight with their dollar when it comes to helping the poor and needy.

America is in a heap of trouble: The President is fighting the wrong enemy because he won't accept the truth. The media is controlled. The pulpits in America are silent because pastors want to build empires and not offend anyone. If America is soon judged for her immorality and unfaithfulness, no one can say that we weren't warned. Winn's book is one such warning.

5.0 out of 5 stars <<< Must Reading >>>, January 9, 2007

This review is from: Tea with Terrorists: Who They Are * Why They Kill (Hardcover)
I've studied Islam and its teaching at the college level, but I must say that this book explains its terrorist roots well. After reading this well documented book in novel format it was easy to understand why there is so much violence associated with this religion. This book will open your eyes like no other that I have read. You will get a first class education while you enjoy the novel like format. I checked its sources and amazingly they are very accurate.

Excellent book to read....must get for people who want to understand why there is so much terrorism in the world associated with Islam.

5.0 out of 5 stars A timely warning, and a great read., July 11, 2005

It's almost necessary to keep reminding oneself "it's only a novel." A fast-paced plot, contemporary topics, and more than a smattering of historical facts make this book difficult to put down. Some of the characters are a bit thin, and some of the plot points are a stretch, but overall it's a gripping story.

What can one do but scoff at those who engage in ad hominem attacks on the authors based on their (perceived) religious beliefs or tabloid stories of their business practices? This is a book review; not a personal popularity contest for the authors.

And for those who say "Read the Koran," I wonder if they really want us to do that? Do they want us reading Surahs 2 and 9? Please don't expect us to fall for the story that they're taken "out of context." I found the authors' quotes in my own copy of the Koran, and a lot more.

This novel offers excellent entertainment, a timely warning on the very real danger facing the civilized world, and a glimpse of the reasons that the modern world will defeat this threat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrifying Truth, November 14, 2002

This review is from: Tea with Terrorists: Who They Are * Why They Kill (Hardcover)
This book should be required reading for every true American. After thousands of hours of study, the author exhibits a true understanding of the Quran and explains what is to be our future if we don't contain the evil of Islam. Muslims are commanded by their prophet to be blood thirsty and murderous, and are also promised by Mohammad, if they die in martyrdom, they will be rewarded in paradise by the "Garden of Bliss" with 70 virgins, rivers of wine and perpetual erections. (And you wonder why thousands of young men, in their prime, are willing to strap bombs to their bodies in the name of Islam?) Do yourself an favor and read this imformative book about what could be our very future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Islamic Truth: A Novel Approach, March 8, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Tea with Terrorists: Who They Are * Why They Kill (Hardcover)
A must read if you want the truth about Islam!
It is presented in novel form as opposed to a dry treatise, but the storyline doesn't distract too much from the truths contained in referenced examples. Mr. Winn has more guts than most considering his many hours of research actually put him in harms way by meeting with actual terrorists and augmenting his extensive research on what Islam means. We discover that Islam is NOT a religion at all but a manifesto of hate, murder and violence.
The story itself is a little far fetched--more like a super-hero and super-heroine meet, fall in love, and save the world--but this is just a backdrop to the real purpose of this book: to once and for all bring the truth to light about Islam and the NON-peaceful psudo-religion that it truly is.
All the character dialogue, as much as I've researched, about Islam and the Bible, is right on!
A real eye-opener that should be read by all people who wonder why the terrorists do what they do. This book contains the answers, and it's scary.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tremendous, December 3, 2002

This review is from: Tea with Terrorists: Who They Are * Why They Kill (Hardcover)
Tea with Terrorists! I am loving it. I am about halfway through it, had to make myself put it down! Thanks for this it makes me laugh, cry, and be most nostalgic for Israel. I have been 7 times and the descriptions of Israel, well, they are wonderful! Makes me almost feel as though I am there. And when the bomb went off near Thor and Sarah and they saved Mary, I could almost feel the blast myself. Unfortunately, it also makes me a little afraid for what is to come. The book makes you understand what is really happening today in the world and know that only through the true and living God is there hope for the world!

It's easy to understand why this book is so controversial. I bought it to get a better understanding of Islam. Winn's exhaustive research and fluid writing style provided a no holds barred examination of the origin and beliefs behind the religion of Islam. No sugar coated, "can't we all just get along" conclusion in this book. He goes back to the original history of Mohammed. He doesn't just pull out the sections of the Qu'ran that suggest that it is a "peaceful" religion. Instead he provides the sections that tell the true story of how Muslims are to interact with Christians and Jews. And it's not a pretty story. If you want to get an unpolitically correct explanation of what Islam is all about, read this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars "Best Book of the Decade", November 14, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Tea with Terrorists: Who They Are * Why They Kill (Hardcover)
I heard a national talk show host describe the book as such and after reading the book I totally agree. Be prepared to be enlightened, frightened, warned, and at the same time thoroughly entertained. The Koran and the Prophet command followers of Islam to do exactly what they are doing...wiping out infidels to the last. While the book exposes this,(the media still doesn't get it) it does not condem peaceful Muslims. The book does, however, do a convincing job of condeming the doctrines and concepts of the religion that orders terror and death to infidels. It would make far better sense instead to let infidels live have death to those doctrines and concepts and the world wide terror they produce. And maybe then to enable a life of peace, freedom and hope for all Muslims and all "infidels" everywhere.
The book is not only the best of the decade...it's the most important!
