The introduction by Bea tells you that she has not kept any secrets back from her recipes. I am the world's worst meringue maker, and her recipe for meringues turned out perfectly - on the first try too! I also liked the other optional flavours to the painted raspberry ones. Her recipes take away my nervousness of baking. I am a very average baker.
The buttermilk chocolate cake was also a hit, and the chocolate cupcakes with the chocolate ganache. Follow the directions - including when to not use Dutch processed cocoa. My husband does not like sweets, but loved the snickerdoodles. Definitely weigh everything using metrics - way better results. Can't wait to try more recipes!

I also love the book layout - recipe on one side, and a photo of the finished product on the other side. Perfect size to use in the kitchen too.

Another plus is that her recipes are not over the top sweet American creations. Hence, excellent for afternoon tea and the gourmet with a European palate. There are also vegan cake recipes. I have many baking books, including the Hummingbird Cake Days, and her book totally compliments them - no repeats.

Also, an excellent bridal shower gift to give to someone who loves baking! (I have bough 3 copies already!)

I have a soft spot for beautiful and well put together cookbooks. This one is not only aesthetic but also very tasty and does not have overly complex recipes. Having additionally visited the shop in London, the recipes are quite authentic compared to the actual offerings there (which is sometimes not true of all "restaurant" books).

If you're looking for something to add some pizzaz to your sweets repertoire I would highly suggest this book.

Lovely book and good looking recipes--if you can read them. The type on the recipes is so small--and there is so much room on the page. I really have to give them two stars mark down for this. Every recipe has a lovely photo of the food, but if you want a book with pictures of lovely settings, teapots, and such this isn't the book for you as the settings for the food are very minimalist.

Tea with Bea is well-written, well-researched and well-photographed. Luscious images of real desserts with real recipes that real people (and chefs!) like to make, eat and enjoy are all it contains. Recipes like the Victoria sponge and sesame chocolate cream are so simple to make... and yet have elevated the category. It's the first book I've read cover to cover and then immediately took to the kitchen to test out! There's nothing overly fancy or unapproachable, the book is sincere; the book is tempting. It feels like a treat. I wish Bea's of Bloomsbury was in the U.S., but until it is, this book is a great consolation prize.

The book is beautiful, with lovely color photos. The recipes are different from other books I have read and would like to try them all. BUT, the problem is, the print is so tiny, it is difficult to read, even with a magnifying glass and I am serious. So, if you are interested in just looking at a tea book, this is certainly the book for you. If you want to make the recipes, the pages will not stay open for you to read and you will need, as I said before, a magnifying glass to read measurements. In the beginning of the book, it was stated how important it is to be exact with ingredients but it is hard to tell what the measurements are. So much work was put into making this lovely book, I don't understand why no thought was put into use of the book or ease in reading the recipes while creating them.

This is the most uncomfortable cookbook to read. You need a magnifying glass! I'm serious! Pictures are beautiful. Comments before recipes a little larger font. But the ingredient list is tiny print! Thumbs down.

This book is beautiful.
The colors, photography, fonts... everything is flawless.
It's the kind of book that makes the perfect gift for someone who likes baking only to discover that the recipes are great!
So far I've made the chocolate peanut butter cheesecake and the killer brownies and they were total hits.
So I guess there are many other great recipes.
Absolutely worth buying
