5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible new addition to Joel's horrorific work! March 9, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
If you had the chance to sit down and talk with death, what would it be about? Would you ask him why he comes? Would you ask him what his favorite color was? Or would you simply sit there, thinking how does he work? Well, in Joel M. Andre's newest short story release, we get a glimpse at what it's like to sit down and have a conversation with death.

In this newest story, we get the eerie, dark humor that Andre's known for, but we get a little more in this one. We get the "how does death really work" side of things, and the what if's and whys. By the end of the story (it's not long...just 30 minutes read time.), the reader is left thinking about changing their way of thinking about things. The man in this story, is full of questions and thoughts. The answers that Death gives him, really make the mind work. The man asked Death to help a "sick" person along with their death, and the ending hits the reader with a whopper!

With an unexpected outcome, and a whole new look on Death, life and the things that happen in between, really blow the reader away! This is definitely a 5 Book worthy short story and one that I think will make the PERFECT addition to your Joel M. Andre horror collection! Don't just sit there....grab this $.99 read NOW! Absolutely incrediriftastic job, Joel!

4.0 out of 5 stars Make a date for Tea With Death May 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Tea With Death finds the unnamed host and narrator welcoming Death for what he hopes will be an enlightening conversation. Getting on in years himself and having lost his youngest son to suicide born of depression, the host has many questions about how death actually occurs and what happens after. He also has a secret agenda he plans to spring on Death if the opportunity presents itself.

The concept of man sitting down for a conversation with the Grim Reaper is certainly not new in book or film, but it usually comes with either a boatload of pretentiousness or too much slapstick irreverence. Author Joel M. Andre, however, strikes just the right balance. Death and his host indeed reflect upon the process of dying, and along the way Death shares many of the secrets of his profession. He does so, however, with a wicked sense of humor and more than a dash of sarcasm.

The host may well come to regret inviting Death inside, but Andre's cleverly constructed philosophical reflections on death peppered with sarcasm and one-liners makes it a guarantee you won't regret making a date for Tea With Death.

5.0 out of 5 stars Death has a dark sense of humor June 15, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This short story, told in first-person narrative, revolves around a meeting between a man and Death - also known as the Grim Reaper. It's not disclosed how the gentleman manages to arrange such a meeting, but it's insignificant in the bigger scheme of things. What proves to be important is the man's true intentions. Constantly tip-toeing around Death and second-guessing his words out of fear of retaliation, he is afraid to ask the tough questions. However, things change as the discussion progresses. Learning secrets which are sought after by so many of the living, he eventually gives in to temptation. He asks death for a favor knowing there will be a price to pay in return. Death has a great sense of humor in this story, yet there is a serious undertone throughout, which only intensifies leading up to the grand finale. Though I saw the ending coming to a certain extent, this was an entertaining read that leaves you pondering life, as well as what comes after.
