The system is driven by 15 watts per channel x 2, and its 2-way speakers each use a 5.25-inch cone woofer and a 2-inch tweeter. System functions include 20-track CD programming, 1-touch presets for your favorite radio stations (20 FM, 20 AM), and a host of equalization features to tailor the sound output to your taste or environment: a Bass Boost System (BBS) as well as 3 preset EQ curves (rock, pops, and classic).
There's a stereo analog auxiliary input (left/right RCA) for your MP3 player, DVD player, VCR, or whatnot, and the system includes a handy remote control. A front-panel headphone jack affords private listening.
What's in the Box
Main unit, 2 speakers with removable speaker grilles, a remote control, remote batteries, a 7-inch/45-rpm record adapter, and a user's manual with warranty information.

I Shudder To Think What Someone Spent on This...,
By I. Gross Georg "imgeorg" (Edmond, Oklahoma USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Teac DC-D2831 Compact Stereo with 3-CD Changer and LP Turntable (Electronics)
First, let me warn anyone thinking of playing their valuable LPs on this worthless garbage, don't do it!! For one thing, the needle is NOT diamond, is mounted in red plastic, and is only good for 50 hours. Need I say more?Well, I will. Secondly, the cue lever is very frustrating and inaccurate. It's to the point where I want to rip the tone arm out and throw it and the whole machine out the window. The cassette player quit working two months after I got it. You have the buttons pushed in like it's recording, but you get blank tape or spotty sound. I don't have time for this. Not when I have a Sony cassette deck available. One of the speakers had a short in it and wouldn't even play. I avoided even leaving it plugged in for fear of the inevitable electrical fire. The one redeeming quality is the carousel CD player. Being able to play three at once is great; but even there, it takes so long to change, and it's noisy when it does change. Sometimes, it fails to notice there's a disc inside unless you push one of the Disc buttons. A dear friend bought this for me, knowing I had a record collection I still cherished but couldn't play because my beloved LAB 420 bit the dust after 20 years. I hope to heaven he didn't pay what they're selling it for here. This machine is a toy, and it's not designed for someone who's serious about their music. Maybe I shouldn't say it's a toy; I have a 33-year-old Vanity Fair child's record player that can play circles around this piece of garbage, plus play 16 rpms as well! You can pretty well guess that I'm not recommending this stereo, especially if you're buying it for the turntable. It's not worth it, your LPs deserve better treatment than they'd get on this machine. If you're buying it solely for the radio, Lord knows there's better and cheaper than this. Do yourself and your music a big favor and buy a component system from a brand that takes pride in their products!

Target shouldn't even carry this. I have been through four replacement systems from Teac. I bought this systen from Service Merchandise and have had to repair or replace every single part every nine months. At first it took three months waiting on parts to be delivered to an authorized service center, then Teac finally just replaced the whole thing....THREE TIMES!!!! If you alrteady own this piece of garbage, SEND IN YOUR WARANTY! Teac will not replace your broken system without it. I REFUSE TO PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM TEAC EVER AGAIN!!!!!!!

Refurbished Teac DC-D2831 Compact Stereo,

Just got this product refurbished today. I have owned 2 products exactly like it, a Samsung for 13 years (which this TEAC replaced) and a SONY for 7 years which still works fine. This was purchased for a home office to listen to CDs, LP Records, FM Radio, and play cassettes while I work. I am impressed by the turntable sound on old 78's and 33 LPs. True, it is not top of the line, but I bought this instead of $1000 of turntable, Cassette, CD, and Amplifier high quality stereo units. I think the product is fine, and have always been happy with other TEAC products. Time will tell.
