4.0 out of 5 stars how tall are you?
I really am enjoying this new stereo. It was very easy to program with radio stations and the quality of the sound is very good. My one spot of difficulty is in reading the buttons for the cassette player. They are labeled in such a way that one must squat down and be at eye level with them. I bought the model that has legs and stands on the floor. I wish I had...

3.0 out of 5 stars Teac GF-680 Console Stereo
Looks very nice, most of the features work great. Main problem is that the speakers are small, and there only two of them, and they are mounted below knee level. There are 2 RCA style plugs for external speaker, but they did not work. Had to open the back and hook up to the existing speakers. Once i attached 2 additional speakers at head level then the unit sounded...

For the price it is a great deal!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nostalgic style stereo, January 19, 2007
This review is from: Teac GF-680 Console Stereo with 3-CD Changer, Turntable, Cassette Deck, and AM/FM Tuner (Electronics)
This stereo is great for anyone with a vintage style decor. Everything works really well, although I will probably add some very small external speakers to project the sound a little better. Also, the controls on the front are hard to read. You need to crouch down and use a flashlight if it's in a dark corner of a room. The plus is that it comes with a remote, but I chose to memorize the controls. But for anyone that doesn't want a modern stereo sticking out like a sore thumb amongst their antiques and collectables, the small hassle is well worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Looks good and sounds great, January 15, 2007
This review is from: Teac GF-680 Console Stereo with 3-CD Changer, Turntable, Cassette Deck, and AM/FM Tuner (Electronics)
Looks good and sounds great. Perfect for the 40+years person who no longers needs the big component stereo to blast their music throughout the neighborhood and just wants to listen to their music and match a non-hi-tec decor.

Very satisfied with the Teac GF-680 ... it's easy to operate and has superb sound. One minor problem is that the cassette function symbols are difficult to read because of their location.

1.0 out of 5 stars Junk! Do Not buy this thing!, February 5, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Teac GF-680 Console Stereo with 3-CD Changer, Turntable, Cassette Deck, and AM/FM Tuner (Electronics)
This item is a piece of junk. When it was received, the record player kept skipping on records. tried placing a penny on the arm and that didn't work so we took it into an "authorized" repair shop. we were told that there was a hugs piece of dust under the arm and that was why it was skipping. When we got it home, it did the same thing. Amazon was extremely helpful in getting this item returned and exchanged for the same item. The new player arrived as promised but did the very same thing. Amazon also was extremely helpful in getting this item returned and refunded my money.

Follow-up: This one works perfectly. Would like the ability to control bass/treble independently rather than presets for sound patterns.

I purchased one of these 2 years ago and had to return it as the tapes didn't work. I purchased a second one and the tape player worked for about a dozen go rounds. The device then developed other intermitent problems. Not possible to have such thing repaired locally and the cost of shipping it back to Sony in CA along with repair costs are prohibitive so it's in the basement awaiting the next bulk trash pickup.

All this said I guess I will buy another one because it does serve it's purpose. I just hope the next one last more than two years.

The Teac GF-680 is good for the price. However a model with seperate bass and treble controls would fit the bill. A upgrade model would give it 5 stars.

3.0 out of 5 stars spending Grandma, January 6, 2009
This review is from: Teac GF-680 Console Stereo with 3-CD Changer, Turntable, Cassette Deck, and AM/FM Tuner (Electronics)
The size is nice for where I needed music, near my kitchen in dinet. The CDs slip off the track too easy and become dislodged...had to remove back to get one out. I don't like the record changer not being automatic as I need to be aware of when the record is finished to change it myself. I haven't tried the tape player yet. Radio is fine.
