Great basic sound, a little strong on the bass,

This review is from: Teac SR-L35B Tabletop or Wall-Mountable AM/FM Stereo CD System (Charcoal) (Electronics)
The SR-L35 is compact, easy to use, and attractive. The sound is excellent for the size. Unfortunately, I prefer a tad less bass in my music, and there's no ability to make any kind of adjustments to the sound (e.g., bass/treble, etc.). This surprised me, but in reviewing other tabletop systems , it looks like this may be the norm. Note that for some reason, when I purchased this item it was $10 cheaper in silver - which I preferred anyway - than in charcoal or white.

Bought this for a table radio in my home office, and I'm very pleased. Good sound, just the right size. Everything works like it's supposed to, I only needed the instructions to set the clock. FM sensitivity and noise rejection are better than the older Sony boombox this replaced, the Teac pulls in a low-power jazz station that the old unit wouldn't. Nice, too, that the antenna connection is a cable jack, so if you get FM feeds over your TV cable, you're all set.
Just a couple gripes... Power supply - just what I need, another wall transformer. The power line was frayed from being balled up against the AC plug prongs during shipping. Easy to fix - just a dash of electrical tape. // Remote control bateries not included - I am $1.50 and a trip to the store away from being a -lot- happier with the remote. // The CD door is motorized operation only, and only works with Function set to CD. Going to take some getting used to. Like I said, just some small stuff. The unit sounds great, and the Tuner seems to be top-notch. Overall, very happy. It's a keeper.

Good for the desktop but not for the bedroom,

The sound is pretty good, but it misses the mark as a sophisticated replacement for a clock-radio. The unit has a timer (radio or CD as alarm) and it has a separate antenna input (I need a "real" antenna in my area.) It DOES NOT have the following: Alarm (beeper), display dimmer (too bright for bedroom), tone control. Pretty disappointing considering the price. Teac's online documentation is poor, not describing the unit well or providing a manual in advance of purchase.

Tomodachi says this unit has too much bass (with no way to adjust it) and that's true. But if you plug up the right reflex port with a small rag (that's "right" looking from the back), it evens out the sound considerably. Of course, you shouldn't have to do this. But Dr. Bose wants $500 for his unit, and this one is only $119 at jr electronics.

Buy it at Fry's,

Found it at Fry's Electronics...for $34.99, bought 2 one for my kitchen, one for my garage....for the price and my choice of music it sounds just wonderful. Though I have to agree, a bit too much base on some music selections, others, just fine....would not have paid the asking $150.00 to $200.00 price tag, that's why I gave it a 3 rating!

Heavy on the Bass,
This review is from: Teac SR-L35B Tabletop or Wall-Mountable AM/FM Stereo CD System (Charcoal) (Electronics)
I just bought the Teac Wall mounted radio thru Amazon. Item came very quickly and is in great shape. I hooked it up easy and love the remote. Looks good - a little bigger than I thought. My only complaint would be the already mentioned heavy bass. I don't notice the bottom end sound on my Jazz CD's as much as my rock CD's. I also have a small Kloss radio which actually has a more rounded balanced warm tone than the teac but it does not have built in CD player. If you don't need a CD player than I would recommend the Kloss.

A Decent 'Second' Stereo,

Don't fool yourself; this is no Bose Wave Radio. Comparisons between the two are foolhardy, and with such disparate price points, such comparisons shouldn't be made.
With this being said, the SR-L35B is a solid backup stereo to help fill an office or kitchen with enjoyable FM music. The unit captures high-mid range tones quite well, it's digital tuner extremely accurate to signal acquisition. Moreover, the sturdy, SR-L35B is an aesthetically-pleasing unit that looks spiffy wherever it rests. Finally, iPods sound clear through the rear audio in jack. Earlier criticisms, however, are accurate. The non-configurable bass resembles that emanating from the speakers of a '65 El Camino. So much so that AM radio becomes almost un-listenable due to this formality. Talk radio listeners: you've been warned. Second, the CD loading function is as annoying as advertised. Patience is a virtue when loading/swapping discs.

Excellent for the money.,
This review is from: Teac SR-L35B Tabletop or Wall-Mountable AM/FM Stereo CD System (Charcoal) (Electronics)
Bought this stereo because I wanted something nice for my office that sounded decent and had more than 2 watts of power per channel. Granted, this does not sound like my Bose Wave system I have at home, but it was also less than 1/4 the cost. The unit has a full bodied sound that makes it sound like a bigger system than it is. There is no tone adjustment but, but I haven't listened to anything that would make me want to adjust the tone. In sum, a good buy for the money.

I set the TEAC system up last night. It's nice looking. I was able to tuck it into a shelf where it won't be noticed. The only design flaw is the CD player - the CD sits vertically in the system, and when you press the button to open the door it comes all the way out so it's at a 90 degree angle to the CD player. Even with proper use, it may break sooner than expected.
The sound is DEFINITELY heavy on the bass, which makes my music sound great. However, as the previous reviewer said, it makes commentators on talk radio sound a little funny, though still very understandable. The sounds fills my small bedroom. It would be a great kitchen radio as well. I would say overall that for $89, I'm very pleased. Listening to the radio on my laptop was getting old.

I bought this in August 2005. My main gripe is that you can't see the clock when the radio or a CD is playing unless you get out of bed, walk acrosss the room and press the "Display" button. Couldn't they have put a "display" button on the remote? I don't mind the slighly heavy bass. I notice it only when someone is talking. And I wish it had the depth of sound I got from my old Panasonic. Would I buy it again? Maybe. There isn't much choice today in clock radios at a reasonable price.
