Better choices out there...,

What's wrong with The Little Engine that Could? It teaches a similar message without spiteful partisanship. I'm a conservative parent, but I won't be reading this to my children. There are better ways to teach children the importance of working hard, and they don't involve hurtful stereotypes and mischaracterizations.

Personal responsibility and reward...,
This review is from: Teach a Donkey to Fish (Kindle Edition)
What a concept! Actually teaching children in a fun way that satisfaction, pride, and sense of achievement one gets by having personal responsibility and earning something one wants! In today's world, this is unheard of, kids are given things all the time, even adults have a sense of entitlement. It's worth looking beyond the obvious political statement (that is above most children's heads anyway) to teach your children something worthwhile.

I think the thing I liked best about this book was the concept of giving by teaching rather than giving with the superior attitude of a metaphorical (and condescending) pat on the head. Libby is a perfect foil for those folks who want the governemnt to give..give..and then give a bit more, rather than working and saving for what they want.Okay, I do think the name "Goppy" is a bit hokey, but no worse than many other children's characters in other books. "Libby" was just too perfect. The illustrations are bright, colorful, and enhance the text. The message is very clear and a good one to teach our young children. If you want something, see what you can do to earn it, rather than getting it free. Yes, you will get it faster if someone gives it to you, but earning it adds a extra touch of pride in the ownership. Great job Mr. and Mrs. Smith! I'm looking forward to sequels!

Responsibility is an American value,

I thought this book was wonderful. Such a good message about the "American Dream", through work and responsibility we may flourish and succeed!! Great job, thanks for providing a book to communicate this message to children.

This is such a great children's book! I would recommend it to any parent trying to raise their children with morals!!!! This book was such a breath of fresh air in this morally corrupt society! Thanks to the author!!!

What a great book! Our kids get the other side of the argument all the time and I have a tool to explain conservatism to my 6 year old.

Insulting and harmful.,

This book is insulting to freedom-loving American conservatives and liberals. It is also an insult to the intelligence of children to be presented with such crude, hateful political stereotypes. Anyone who buys this book and the people who made it should be ashamed of using defenseless children as political pawns via indoctrination. Parents, don't buy your kid hate-mongering propaganda.Oh, and the illustrations are atrocious.

It's an adorable book, and anti-conservative venom in some of these reviews should be no surprise to anyone by now. If you're conservative or libertarian in your views (which polls suggest the majority of Americans are), you'll very much enjoy reading this book to/with your children or giving it to young children you know as a gift.

Finally - the moose has to get his own muffin,

This review is from: Teach a Donkey to Fish (Kindle Edition)
What a wonderful antidote to the "Moose/Muffin" "Mouse/Cookie" books that teach that greed is funny and asking for more without contributing anything is a valuable skill. Kudos to the authors for demonstrating to value thrift and hard work - and the true meaning of giving from the fruits of your own labors.
