Book Description

Teach Me How To Love is the true story of Scott Kalechstein Grace, an unlicensed peddler on the streets of NYC, who, after years of being chased by the police, decides to chase his dreams instead. While sharing his inspired, improvisational singing, motivational speaking, and conscious comedy across three continents, Scott eventually discovers that what matters most to him is learning his love lessons at home - how to be vulnerable, how to forgive, how to love himself and others, and, perhaps the most difficult and daring adventure of all, how to let love in.

Teach Me How To Love is storytelling at it's finest. The fact that the story is true, real, gripping and hilariously funny makes this book a rare treat. We all are fumbling beginners when it comes to love, and this book's ability to teach without teaching, to share and inspire rather than preach and give advice, is a very powerful and penetrating approach. He makes it safe, joyous, and exciting to learn. It's a precious book, one that not only uplifts, but can actually generate an emotional shift, a leap into new possibilities for the reader. I don't think there is anyone - atheist, agnostic, Christian, Buddhist, New Ager, New Thought, etc, who would not benefit from Teach Me How To Love.

Love encompasses all religions and no religion, and so does this book!

“Teach Me How To Love is a captivating, illuminating and joyously entertaining guidebook for our soul. As you laugh and cry your way through the pages, you will come to recognize yourself. I thank Scott for his unique gifts and courage to share them. They will shine light upon your own.”
-Alan Cohen, author of A Daily Dose of Sanity and The Dragon Doesn’t Live Here Anymore

“Teach Me How To Love delights and disarms with humor, and then takes you by surprise with its transformational teachings. Scott Grace generously points the way to courageous living and loving, all while keeping it fresh, delightful, and so very fun. If you have a sneaking suspicion that you can use more lightening up as you reach for your dreams, then read this book!”
-Jack Canfield, author of The Success Principles and co-author of Chicken Soup for the Soul

“Teach Me How To Love grips and grabs you like a thriller, except that instead of scaring you, it will encourage you to laugh your fears away. Scott manages to be honest, entertaining, inspirational, and wildly funny throughout-and even when the tale turns profound and deeply healing, somehow it all still goes down light and easy, with humor as a constant companion. This is my kind of book!”
-Gary Renard, author of The Disappearance of The Universe

“Scott Grace’s joy is contagious and lights up every page of this entertaining and inspiring book. This is a brilliant account of happiness that comes from the inside out. His remarkable story of going from laundry bag street peddler to transformational troubadour will loosen your cares, fuel your enthusiasm, and help remind you of your own infinite capacity to love and be loved.”
-Marci Shimoff, author of Love for No Reason, Co-Author of Chicken Soup for The Woman’s Soul

“Teach Me How To Love sparkles with fun, wisdom and great humor as Scott relates the ins and outs, from very personal experience, of daring to live intentionally. It also happens to be the finest kind of love story, one that not only gives you hope and goose bumps, but also tools and a treasure map to your heart. You may just enjoy reading it so much that you don’t even realize how much you’re being healed!”
-Tama J. Kieves, author of This Time I Dance! Creating the Work You Love

And that is what Scott's music, his message and his life are about, living from the heart.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely Well-Written, Heart-Opening, Healing and Fun August 24, 2011
Format:Paperback
As a retired English teacher, and published author, I love, love, love, extremely well-written books. Teach Me How To Love is in that category, an instant classic. Like Tuesday's with Morrie, it conveyed powerful life wisdom and mentoring through a heart-stirring memoir. Like The Celestine Prophecy, it shared metaphysical and spiritual lessons in the most entertaining way possible - through telling a great story. Like Eat Pray Love, except this time through a man's perspective, Teach Me How To Love took me on a great journey, not to Italy, India, and Bali, but to the depths of love inside myself. Scott's vulnerability and honesty, in perfect balance with his wit and humor, made the book impossible to put down for me. It is rare that a man is willing to filet himself open and let his inner world be widely known and learned from. Rarer still, is the entertainment value right in the midst of him being so transparent and authentic. There were many times I was laughing so much I had to stop reading and catch my breath. There is not a person in my life and on this earth that I would not recommend this book to!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Total Delight From Start to Finish September 14, 2011
Format:Paperback
Teach Me How to Love was a total delight from start to finish.

My only regret was that it wasn't twice as long - honestly. I hope this is the first of many books written by Scott Kalechstein Grace. His writing is a rare find, combining vulnerability and depth with great humor and joy. Scott shares his love of life so generously, it's impossible for it not to rub off on you.

I think you'll love this book, and, if you're anything like me, you'll put it down and feel inspired to get busy loving.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for the heart and soul! August 20, 2011
Format:Paperback
If you want to laugh while being inspired, "Teach Me How to Love" is the vehicle...this is a book you want to lend to a friend but can't because you'll want to highlight and dogear too many pages. Scott's story is filled with wit and wisdom, a book you want to race thru and at the same time savor. A fabulous storyteller and lyricist, Scott leads us, thru his story, to the beautiful core of forgiveness and love, calling attention to the human experiences of vulnerability and fear that give way to spirit's truth of love and peace. You'll laugh, cry and be inspired. There are many accolades accompanying this book and you'll know why after the read. A real treat for the heart and soul.

Scott's book, Teach Me How to Love, will make you laugh, smile, sigh, cry, sing and all in all, celebrate the glory of your own human experience. It makes for delicious bedtime reading or in between loads of laundry. How Scott manages to be SO funny and SO wise at the same time is beyond me but don't tell him I said so.

Anyone who is striving to live more heartfully and consciously, anyone who appreciates good humor, storytelling, excellent writing and life as a spiritual path will love this gem of a book. You will emerge with a feeling of deeper joy than when you opened to page 1, I guarantee it.

Don't wait or let your head stop you from buying this book. You will probably want to come back and get copies as gifts. It's THAT good. So go ahead, listen to the voice of Love in your heart right now that is (ever-so-nicely) pestering you to buy this book... And enJOY!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lessons in Love Through Life Stories and Laughter October 9, 2011
Format:Paperback
Teach Me How to Love is a touching a real story that happens to be chock full of great laughs. Scott is very honest and very funny in his delivery of the spiritual lessons life has to teach us. I can tell already that I will re-read Teach Me How to Love both for my own personal development as well as for the laughter and amusement I always get when reading excerpts to friends. Speaking from the perspective of a practical businessperson with a strong dose of skepticism for vague ambiguities, I can genuinely say that you will find none of those in this book. Scott is real, raw, specific, and hilarious!

This is the kind of book that would make Oprah Winfrey flip out and buy one hundred thousand copies to give out to all her friends. It's filled with wisdom, heart, love, tears and laughter. Teach Me How To Love vibrates and shimmers with everything that matters in life.

When I look back on the few books I've read that have had so much impact on me that I could say, "That book changed my life" there have been a few. None of them have been traditional self-help or how-to books. I don't get much from advice books, like The Seven Habits, or Think and Grow Rich.

Especially in this new millennium. I don't know about you, but these days I am in a perpetual state of information overload.

My life-changing books have all been stories that have engaged and touched my heart. Anne Lamott, Mitch Albom, James Redfield, and Elizabeth Gilbert have all changed my life with their books. And now, here comes Scott Kalechstein Grace.

At first, the playfulness and humor of his opening chapter made me think I was in for just an entertaining, light, bubbly read. But as it went along, it got very deep and profound. It really got to me. The second half of the book especially took me to tender places inside. Yet, somehow, Scott keeps the lightness and levity flowing as he addresses things like forgiveness and healing with Mom, Dad, and the ups, downs, and mysteries of romantic relationships.

I felt as if I went on Scott's journey into love with him, and that he lent me his hand and his encouragement for my own. This was not just a book, it was an experience of illumination, transformation, both comforting and stretching at the same time. A must-read for anyone and everyone!

More About the Author

Bio Rhythms

I was born at a young age in 1963
Survived the streets of Brooklyn and my noisy family
My parents thought God was a scam, religion was for saps
For me that meant no Hebrew School
So I thanked God for that!
No Chanukah, no Christmas trees, no holy holidays
When we gathered for a meal for grace we said "Oy Vey!"

I was schooled in logic, learned hard science and new math
I had some signs of ADD and couldn't sit still in class
I took two years of college and then called it graduation
You could say I left to get a higher education

I became a spiritual seeker, meditation, LSD
I did some breathwork, got real high and met with God drug free!
My parents were beside themselves "Oh, where did we go wrong?
Our son has got religion...well, at least he's not reborn!"

I didn't join a church, or pass pamphlets door to door
I learned to mind my ego so it wouldn't mind the store
I took the latest workshops and expensive weekend trainings
I paid for Tony Robbins to say "Scott, just quit complaining!"

I did my daily practices and found some peace and power
I started writing happy songs and singing in the shower
Some friends who overheard me asked "Why don't you make a tape?
Your music will help many folks rejoice and celebrate"

And so I went from shower to the studio and stage
I freed up the performer who'd been locked inside a cage
My music brought me so much joy and even brought me money
I left the day job, moved out west to where it's much more sunny
I made CD's, the word caught on till I was quite sought after
There's nothing like a message that is sent in song and laughter

At home I learned my lessons just like everybody else
I learned to love another I first gotta love myself
I grew through my relationships, the land of Mars and Venus
I learned to listen to my heart not just my head and penis

So now I journey with a mate, we raise a child together
We're learning we can choose to love in every kind of weather
Sometimes when our fears collide, we both get out of joint
We point the finger at each other and truly miss the point

Yet in the midst of challenges we're learning to stay friends
To welcome different points of view and not judge or defend
A fighting Brooklyn boy can grow to be a gentle man
When he gives up being right and seeks to understand
And that's what I have learned so far out in the Sunshine State
It's best to battle with my ego instead of with my mate

Yes, that's what I have learned in all these years I've told you of
I'd rather lose an argument and win at choosing love
I'd rather drop the arguments and join with you in love
