First the design and organization of this is great! I love that things are seperated into categories. I follow the instructions that come with it and only do one lesson a day. I also do as the book suggests and I made a fun song and clap my hands to it when I bring the box out. He knows the song and crawls to the box and starts going crazy. Once he learned where the box stays he constantly is pulling it out and going crazy over it! So cute! I got this when he was 6 months old and he is doing really good with it.

The quality of the product is medium. I would expect higher quality for the price, but overall I say just the organization of this kit is well worth the money.

As for the other review with the words "shoes" and counting only to 10.... I have to remind people this is for BABIES!!!!! NOT TODDLERS! There is a seperate kit for that. My baby does not like to wear shoes or socks, but the words are still in the book because it's common everyday items that they come into contact with. They don't ride planes everyday either, but I think it's good that they have included those words. They need a variety and I honestly think they did a good job picking out first words. As for the numbers.... again this is for BABIES! This means under 12 months. This is to get them familiar with the numbers, orders, and sounds. Which you do not want to confuse them and go up to 10 just yet. You can do that later... such as in the Teach My Toddler Kit. This is not ment to teach them to count verbally, again just to get them familiar with numbers, sounds, and order. I don't know any baby under 12 months that can count.

The only NEGATIVE thing that I can say about this kit is that in the Animals section there is a picture of goose and they call it a DUCK and they say it goes "Quack". That drives me a little crazy because I grew up on a farm, but I don't think my 11 month old knows the difference. LOL!

The quality of these items were horrific....the finger puppets were falling apart before even using them. Also, the books and cards are made from cheap material. Waste of money, time, and expectations....don't buy.

I got this when my child was 4 months old and plan to gradually use it as he grows (he is at 9 months now).

The activities are spread between the following:

- 6 square boxes of varying sizes (like Russian dolls) with pictures of body parts (tongue, nose, etc) and a plastic mirror on one of the outside faces
Concern: The edges of the boxes are pointy and have not been tapered off and I had to stop my child playing with it as he kept hitting himself with the pointy corners and putting it in his mouth.

- 3 sets of large activity cards with sets of textures (wooly sheep, furry dog, etc), pictures of everyday objects (spoons, etc) and body parts (eyes, tongue, etc) with a mirror behind it.

Concern: The edges of the cards are sharp and it is very easy to get a papercut (see a picture of my finger above). I will not let my child play with this until I can put some heavy tape on it to dull the edges.

- First Numbers set containing a small book, finger puppets and a hard square frame with circles for the puppets.
Concern: Same as above, the edges are sharp and not well finished off. The same applies to the inside of the circles.

- a small book for first words

- a small book for first sounds with a puzzle

My primary concerns for all these books are the sharp upper and bottom edges on all the books. I will have to get some strong tape to cover them so my child does not get a papercut as I did (see image above).

My Mom (who teaches in a Daycare Center in Australia) mailed me some books she uses for colors, numbers and first words and boy were they different in quality! The edges are well rounded and the upper and bottom edges are gentle to the touch when running a finger on them. These are by Beaver Books but from Australia and I am not sure whether you can get them on Amazon in the States. There is a url on the back of the book:[...]

Very bad quality..I should have listened to the other reviews.
1. Broken mirror
2. They put a sticker over an error in one of the books instead of making a new book
3. I've had it less than a week and ripped one of the cheap plastic bags

I received Teach My Baby as a gift when my daughter was 11 months. At 16 months she has mastered most of the box except for the counting, so I am going to purchase the Teach my Toddler.

I like that this provides an organized method to try and teach my daughter parts of the face, first words, counting, and animals/textures. To keep my daughter interested I only do one section a night. She will go and point to the box and try to drag it out so we can play with it. As noted in other reviews, the quality isn't perfect. But overall this is a great item.

Clearly disappointed with the entire product all together. Not sure If I received a bad shipment, but seems reading other reviews they are all like this, and the positive reviews are oddly deceiving. Like one person said something about making a song insinuating that this product comes w/ songs.

disappointments and why I feel cheated:

No clear instruction on how to go about and show your child these flash cards or number books. I get it, some parents I guess just naturally know how to teach their child, but I would like a booklet of songs and lessons to assist in the teaching process. I didn't realize this was like a rouge thing for a license/certified pre school teacher. My son is 1 yr and he was never interested in anything to do with this "teach my baby". The only interesting thing he seemed to like was the animal flash cards, but everything else is just useless, its more like for a chimpanzee or something, but my son was just bored w/ any type of game or approach, and since its called "teach my baby" then I failed at it. I may need to find something called "I will show you how to teach your baby", which is exactly what I believed I was buying.
Also, Finger puppets are made for sausage fingers, they do not serve their purpose rendering them useless. For instance, they just slip on, you are lucky to keep one on and when you move your finger it falls. Also, the finger puppets come w/ a large card w/ little holes for the finger puppets to stick through and each hole has the body of each animal on the finger puppet. Well the bodies don't match w/ the heads, there are bodies on the card for finger puppets I don't have...it's just embarrassing. I feel stupid for buying this thing, please do not waste your money, buy something better.
