5.0 out of 5 stars A Quick Reference for Essential Concepts, August 17, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Teach Yourself 101 Key Ideas: LINGUISTICS (Paperback)
"Teach Yourself 101 Key Ideas In Linguistics" offers concise and comprehensible presentations of linguistics concepts, from 'Acquisition of Language' to 'Writing System'.

Use this book to refresh your knowledge of linguistics concepts. Or use the book to grasp what key ideas interest linguists.

To explain certain key ideas of linguistics, the author contrasts English with other languages. Throughout the book, the author uses interesting and humorous examples that establish the relevance of the linguistics ideas he presents.

I'm using the book as a quick-reference, but if you're new to linguistics, you might use the book to learn what makes linguistics worth doing.
