The book is a good beginning to a complicated world of guitar maintance. Good starter kit for any guitarist. Good pictures and good detail. The DVD is a great resource.

This book is not really a repair guide; it is more of a maintenance guide. It only really addresses set up. If you are a guitarist, this is certainly a good book to read (though, if you have had a good teacher of any kind, they should have been able to teach you all of its content). If you are new to lutherie and trying to learn about repair, I would look elsewhere. ALSO... this book ONLY addresses solid body electric guitars (most of the content can be transferred to hollow body, but it never mentions setup with a moveable bridge.)

No Fretwire/Fret repair,

I was disappointed. The book told you the same thing the Fender manual tells you about string/pickup height, intonation, etc. When I hear "repair" I assume it means repair (like frets) - not "setup" which would be a more appropriated title for this book.

Look for the one with the DVD,

The book is fair and somewhat dated. There are two versions, one comes with the DVD an one does not. Make sure you are getting the right one.
