Ref: A Waste of Money,
By A Customer
This review is from: Teach Yourself Lotus Notes 4.5 (Teach Yourself Visually) (Paperback)
I made a mistake and I reviewed "Teach Yourself... : Lotusscript for Notes/Domino" instead of "Teach Yourself Lotus Notes 4.5" because their covers and titles are similar. Now, I've rated 5 stars just to compensate for my mistake.

A Waste of Money,
By A Customer
This review is from: Teach Yourself Lotus Notes 4.5 (Teach Yourself Visually) (Paperback)
Don't waste your money. To learn LotusScript, believe me, you just need Lotus Notes's Help. It is great. It provides you with all LotusScript explanation as well as good examples. When I bought this book, I've started reading it and doing it's exercises. I couldn't progress at all. Then, a friend of mine, that happens to be a Notes Developer, told me to use Notes Help. I've still resisted a little more, spending more time with this book than I expected, and then I've decided to give a try on Note's Help. And, bingo, from there on everything started to work beautifully. Now, thanks to Notes Help, and thanks only to it, I've definitely learned LotusScript.Joca

Awful.,
By Jerry Saperstein (Evanston, IL USA) - See all my reviews (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE)
This review is from: Teach Yourself Lotus Notes 4.5 (Teach Yourself Visually) (Paperback)
568 pages of elementary material that could have been covered in less than 100. The author shamelessly pads every chapter and every topic to add bulk, but not information, to the book. For instance, the chapter on searching is 34 pages for a topic that could have been extensively handled in 10. A waste of money in my opinion - and definitely not a good advertisement for any MIS Press title. Jerry

Great capabilities overview and user's primer,
By A Customer
This review is from: Teach Yourself Lotus Notes 4.5 (Teach Yourself Visually) (Paperback)
This book provides a great Lotus Notes capabilities overview before getting into the basics of use. This book does not get in to specific user applications nor does it attempt to make a programmer out of the reader. The author makes liberal use of screen illustrations making the instructions-for-use sections easy to follow even without the interactive PC database files provided. Once through this book will provide the average user with an excellent functional understanding of how to use Lotus Notes for organizing, managing, accessing, and sharing data in the work environment. Well worth your time especially if Lotus Notes has just been installed at your company and your looking to make your job easier
