Great Book!! Got everything I needed to pass the Server exam with just 1/2 the pages of all those other prep Books. I hope Sam's continues the trend and produces equally good books for other MS exams.. HIGHLY Recommended!!! P.S The price (which I normally don't worry about)further makes this an outstanding buy.

I purchased this book after reading positive reviews about it. It was one of the most easy, down to the point books I've ever read. This book, along with Exam Cram got me through the Server exam with a breeze...

Enticed by the low cost and combination of two core exams I picked up 'Teach Yourself NT Server 4 in 14 Days'. After reading it through I realised that the book does NOT cover everything you need to know for the exams; policies for example (heavily emphasied in the server exam) are given less than one page. The fact that the two exams are not separated in the text means that you are not entirely sure what you should be focusing on prior to a specific test. I have since seen this book in an earlier (thicker!) edition without the MCSE branding. Comparing the two, this looks as though it was slightly revamped and rushed to market. It shows... My recommendation would be to spend a little more and buy New Riders.

This is a decent introduction to TCP/IP networking with Microsoft Windows NT 4.0. It covers all the material needed to pass the corresponding MCSE exam.

The quality of the indivual chapter varies greatly, though, which isn't surprising as the book was written by four people.

The information in the book is mostly accurate, and it is clear that the material went through an editing process, but some problems remain. In particular, the use of the "%systemroot%" pointer is clearly wrong, and some of the answers to the exercises in the "Lab" section are inaccurate. Ah--the exercises! This is clearly the weakest part of the book that really needs to be revised. Too bad, especially for an exam preparation book. Language and style is another part that needs improvement.

An excellent reference for TCP/IP is Windows NT TCP/IP Network Administration (C. Hunt; O'Reilly)--not an exam preparation book per se, but it has all the material necessary to pass, and then some. For those of you who actually like reading, the writing style of this book is far superior to the one under review, which makes it a pleasurable experience to read.

I was extremely impressed with this book. I have read the Sybex(waste of money) and New Riders(good book) books and found them both to pale in comparison to this cheap, complete, resource. I took both exams and obliterated them. This book is very thorough and graphic in its explanations of the topics. I would recommend this book moreso than any other book I have read on the subject. Even among the 14-Day Sams books, this ranks #1 in my opinion. It is much more informative than the Workstation book and covers the minor details that will be stressed on the tests.

I (hesitantly) bought this book as a last minute review type book. I couldn't believe how many questions on the NT 4.O Server exam this book helped me answer. It was very easy to understand and follow,& without all the unneeded fluff. This book is a must read for at least the Server exam. The cover does say it preps you for the Enterprise exam as well, but its hard to say how well, since I haven't taken that exam yet.

I used this study guide as that, A study guide. If there areas where detail was lacking or I wanted a different perspective then the NT 4.0 SERVER RESOURCE KIT has the detail.

The FAST FACTS I reviewed just before the exams. I didn't expect to pass either but wanted to see what areas I needed to work on. Hey I'm happy.

For double the money this booth would still be a bargain.

MCSE candidates can prepare for two exams in just 14 days. The book is well organized and easy to follow. The information is broken down into sections that are easy to understand for users of any skill level. The review questions at the end of each chapter allow readers to test their knowledge, while the lab exercises help readers gain practical experience. The authors are available by e-mail and answered all my questions in less than one day. This book helped me to pass exam 067 on the first attempt. I highly recommend this book to anyone preparing for MCSE exams, or anyone who would like a better understanding of NT Server 4.0.

After reading through this book, I found it very readable and easy to understand. The collaboration of the various authors and their unique writing styles made this book a valuable learning tool in preparation for the MCSE course exams. I was impressed with the "to the point" fast facts and the exclusion of the "fluff" that other books tend to use to thicken the content. Overall a very impressive study tool.

I found this to be an excellent source to tailor my self-study plan for the WIN95 exam. Marcus Bartons' writing style is clear and holds your interest -- and he also keeps you focused on the important issues. You will still need to supplement your study with at least two other books though. One comprehensive book of sample questions (I used MSCE Exam Prep by Que but I hear the examcram series is very good also) and the Microsoft Resource Kit (I used the free copy available on the CD ROM). Using this book as a template and with lots of study and doing practice questions from the other books, I managed to pass my WIN95 exam in only 10 days -- not by choice, I was under a deadline since the 063 exam was being retired. I will be using the Sams series as a basis for future MSCE exams.
