Sketchy, difficult to follow on a step-by step basis,

From the onset. this book must assume the reader has a familiarity with Frontpage 2000,since it takes a lot for granted in its instructions. I struggled through the first seven chapters but hit a brick wall at chapter 8. The chapter on framing is vague and illusive. This book would have been better if it were more precise with it's directions and assumed less foreknowledge of the reader. I bought this book to learn how to use Frontpage 2000. The author assumes that I already know how to use this program...a poor assumption.

at first when I read this book, I didn't learn too much untill I actually took a course in Frontpage2000. Now the book is easy to read and understand. So if its ur first book its not the way to go, otherwise its very good.

Sams Teach Yourself Microsoft FrontPage 2000 is a combination of good and bad. The major flaw here is although the book is labeled for beginners, it assumes the reader understands 'computerese'. Terms such as HTML and ISDN are not spelled out, much of the jargon is left unexplained. A novice to this program would be lost before finishing the first chapter. Another problem with this book is the lack of examples and/or exercises as the chapter progresses. FrontPage, like most computer programs,is not something to read about. Learning will come easier if the information is presented in a hands-on approach. In this regards Sams Teach Yourself FrontPage in 21 days has a better format. On the good side, the flow of the chapters are nicely sequential, each building on the previous. One could get a web site up and operating by the time the book is completed. Overall there are better choices in books, although this one may be adequate if a live teacher were around to help decode the jargon.
