This is certainly a visually beautiful book. And, for many people new to Dreamweaver, it might be exactly what they're looking for. Unfortunately, it's not what I am looking for. For example, there are beautiful illustrations of website home pages throughout the book. What I would have liked to have seen is how to create THOSE websites step-by-step. How do you create those attractive banners? How do you create those entire-page-backgrounds? What I want is a book that visually shows me beautiful websites, then shows me how to create them...from basic index.html page and interesting graphics incorporated onto the page, to linked pages, animations (flash) etc. This book just doesn't do it.

At first, I was excited when ask to create a web site for my company. After reading my first HTML book, that excitement was soon replaced by fear. My company had provided site creation software but I was dumbfounded about where to start. Most of the books I had bought were too advanced for me and I began to think I just couldn't do this web site thing.

That was until I discovered this book. It was a good starting off point, visually showing the steps to start creating basic web pages. One week after receiving this book, I had created a web site.

Most books are intended to help the reader master the program, this book had just enough information to help me learn the program. Although I now need to purchase another book to help master Dreamweaver, this book still deserves five stars because I would have never been able to learn Dreamweaver without it.

This book is excellent for a quickstart using an unknown program.
Also, very good as a reference document when one gets a little rusty.

I'd probably have given this book five stars if I'd have had time to go through all the steps reading and applying it cover to cover but I'm way too busy right now using three other web building tools. I review it as I can see it though and it's fine.

I agree with a previous reviewer that this is certainly a visually apealing book and this is why purchased it. The trouble is that although the pictures are good the explanations are rreally poor and I am no wiser now about how to develop a web page than I was before before I bought the book. All of the writers efforts have gone into designing a visually apealing book rather than a usefull guide to using Dreamweaver.

This is a good book that I bought to help me, but I never got to use it because my school had me buy the latest version of Dreamweaver.

Well planned and executed. For visual learners this book is a must. Also Mac Friendly!! ++++

Maybe YOU ASK ME WHY JUST ONE STAR FOR THIS BOOK...!!!THIS IS FOR ME,BECAUSE I BOUGHT A BOOK CALLED TEACH YOURSELF VISUALLY HTML WHICH IT HAS THE MOST CHAPTERS OF THIS BOOK WITH SIMPLE DIFFRENTS.ACTUALLY I DIDN'T SEE BIG DIFFRENTS BETWEEN THIS 2 BOOKS,BUT THE BOOK IS VERY VERY GOOD.
