A quietly inspirational and easy to follow intro to Yoga, May 4, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Teach Yourself Yoga (Paperback)
If you've ever been cornered by a yoga devotee, they've probably pointed out your high level of stress and low-level of well-being. They are usually wholesome-looking, keen evangelists for this particular form of discipline. And, you may have noticed, they are rapidly growing in number.
Eve Grzybowski has practised yoga since 1971 and taught thousands of people its benefits: flexibility, balance, strengthening, focus, stress-reduction, and much more. Her book "Teach Yourself Yoga is a very accessible guide for both beginning and experienced yoga students. Eve writes in a simple, jargon-free way, explaining unfamiliar terms and giving practical hints, especially for novices.
Thirty specific exercises are detailed and illustrated, with a 12-week program included to give an idea of how to sequence the postures. Ideally, the book would be used alongside a yoga class, but the exercises can all be easily followed at home.
If you ever thought you'd like to try yoga but didn't know where to begin, you'll find Teach Yourself Yoga an excellent place to start.
