Book Description

Callie Taylor's life is turned upside down when she learns the truth about her birth following the death of her mother. Not only is her father alive, but he's none other than presidential candidate Senator Warren Sherbrooke.

Billionaire and confirmed bachelor, Dylan Talbot, is devoted to his family. When his stepfather Warren Sherbrooke receives a letter from a past love telling him they have a daughter together, Dylan is instantly suspicious. In order to keep the media vultures away and protect Warren's political aspirations, Dylan convinces Warren to let him handle the situation.

As Callie and Dylan spend time together, they can't resist the feelings that blossom between them. However, when Callie learns the real reason he has been spending time with her their fledgling romance is put in jeopardy and only complete honesty can save it.

This is NOT a Christian Romance. It is a Contemporary Romance.

Some of the authors favorite lines:

“I'm not sure. Maybe that is how you Englishman say hello to your friends. I've never been to England,” Callie teased as she moved her hands to his shoulders. “I might need more convincing,” she said her voice all business.

“There's no place I'd rather stay especially if it means more of your apple cinnamon pancakes for breakfast. Preferably served to me in bed by you completely naked, but I'm flexible.”

“Sounds like a challenge to me. One I look forward to undertaking.”

4.0 out of 5 stars A charming start to an engaging new series! April 29, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a charming contemporary romance with very likeable and believable characters. I rate this as 4.5 stars. I found the plot instantly drew me in and had a hard time putting the book down. Normally, I stretch a book out for several days to a week, but this one drew me in from the start and would not let me slowly savor it.
I finished it in two evenings.

The author has created very vivid characters and an intriguing backdrop of a pre-election campaign scandal.

Callie is an average Jane heroine the reader will instantly identify with. She is an elementary school teacher who has recently lost her mother. As the story opens, her mother's best friend delivers a letter to Callie that was written by her mother, a letter holding an incredible secret that is about to change Callie's life. Callie was always told her father died in a car accident before she was born. Instead, Callie learns from her mom's letter that she is the love child of a current Presidential candidate, and it is barely six months before the big Presidential election.

To Callie's horror, the messenger informs her that she was also instructed to send a letter to Callie's father, Senator Sherbrooke, informing him of Callie's existence, and has already done this. The letter is in the mail! The last thing Callie wants is to meet this powerful man or become entangled in an election scandal. She wants to merely absorb the shock of such news and return to her very normal, quiet life as a school teacher. She does not belong in the glittering world of the senator and his family, and does not want to.

Fate will not let her be, however, as Dylan Talbot, a rich, handsome emissary from the Sherbrooke family, knocks on her door.

5.0 out of 5 stars I had a hard time putting this one down March 25, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
[REVISION: someone indicated a new edited copy is available although I have not personally re-read this to see.]

First of all, I know some of you are truly bothered when a book isn't edited and you find typo's and such. If this is you, be forewarned that there are some throughout (like the use of "to" in place of "too", misspellings and such). Putting that aside, I really enjoyed this romance story. When the main character's mother dies, she finds out that she has a father who never knew of her existence. Through the development of this relationship she gets to know her future love. I loved watching their romance unfold, although as you read you know that trouble is brewing. When trouble does rear it's ugly held I almost felt like crying myself. I love a romance story that has me cheering for the happily ever after. I found something very compelling about this story and it ended on just the right note. If you are wondering if this is a book you can share with your young adult romance reader, I'd say give this one a miss as they do have a physical relationship. Thankfully, from my perspective this wasn't a main point of the book so I was able to skim though. These two characters fall in love with more than each other's looks. I can't wait to read number two in the series. Hope you get as engrossed in this one as I did.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful and Endearing June 4, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Okay I really loved this book more than I hoped. Callie Taylor is an average 31 year old teacher when her recently deceased mother's best friend informs her that her mother has been keeping a secret about her father. She learns that her father is not dead like she thought but he is in fact presidential hopeful and senator Warren Sherbrookes. This throws Callie's world off balance throw in a sexy Adonis Brit and Callie's world is thrown in a tailspin. Dylan Talbot is instantly suspicious when all of the sudden his step father gets a letter informing him that he had a daughter. He intends to get to the bottom of this to she if in fact he is her father and what she wants from Warren. When Dylan meets Callie he can see the family resemblance to his siblings and believes in fact she is Warren's daughter. They both feel instant attraction towards each other and over the course of a few visits he knows Callie is no threat toWarren and he doesn't need to be around but he can't get her out of his head. When Warren's campaign manager asks Dylan to keep an eye on Callie he jumps at the opportunity to spend more time with her. After realizing they have many common interest and have an ease around the other their relationship blooms into something other than friendship. Dylan has been burned before and tries to keep Callie at arms length emotionally but when he is around her he can't seems to feel anything but love and contentment for her. Things go bad when Callie finds out that Dylan has been hanging out with her to make sure she did not spill about being Warren's Daughter even though for him it was not about that. Their brother Jake (I know weird but he is half brother to both) convinces Dylan that Callie is not his ex and that he is in love with her, he realizes that he must fight for the woman he loves.... 3.0 out of 5 stars A fun read March 26, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
The author is a gifted storyteller who weaves a sweet tale of discovering love when and where it is least expected, but she is also sorely in need of an editor. Poor grammar and punctuation distract from what is otherwise a good read.

1.0 out of 5 stars Explicit
Did not appreciate the explicit sex scenes. I don't want that in a book, and I wish there was a labeling in the description so that the reader would be aware before purchasing.
