5.0 out of 5 stars Don't miss The Teacher's Book of Wit, August 4, 2000
This review is from: The Teacher's Book of Wit: Quips, Quotes & Anecdotes to Make Learning More Fun (Paperback)
Thanks to my teacher friend who knows I love funny quips and quotes and gave me a copy of The Teacher's Book of Wit. What a treat, it is chocked full of fun. The quotes and anecdotes remind me of my favorite and not so favorite teachers and subjects, good times and bad times but always funny times in school. This book is a great read even if you'r not a teacher. I work at a mental health clinic and we keep several copies in the waiting area. We hear a lot of laughing and it helps to ease the waiting room anxiety. There is only one problem, the books keep coming up missing!

1.0 out of 5 stars Frankly, I was disappointed., June 20, 2000

This review is from: The Teacher's Book of Wit: Quips, Quotes & Anecdotes to Make Learning More Fun (Paperback)
If you are a teacher who is looking to revitalize your classroom climate with warmth and chuckles or if you are simply wanting to put some wit into your style of teaching, then this book is really NOT at all what the title suggests. When I purchased it, I thought, "Wow, I'll have new witty ideas about how I can introduce my lessons and find new ways to incorporate humor!" What I wound up with was just a thin book that is full of quotes and sayings by subject category. The title shouldn't be "The Teacher's Book of Wit" so much as it should be "Anyone's Book of Quotes." I thought that this book would be a thick book brimming over with ideas as to how to incorporate "wit" (if that be possible) in my classroom. (I was searching for wit without sarcasm.) I've learned that "wit" is either something you have or you don't. You cannot purchase a book that will tell you how to incorporate it. I would not recommend this book to teachers with my same lofty goals of becoming a master teacher but I would suggest it for someone who just wanted another book of quotes in their own personal library.

5.0 out of 5 stars The perfect gift for teacher's., July 31, 2000

I am a teacher and received this book as a gift from one of my students. I have many quote books, but the Teacher's Book of Wit is by far the best, most fun and usefull one I own! The selection of zany definitions and anecdotes have become a part of my daily lesson plan. This book is now my gift of choice to fellow teachers.
