2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, September 1, 2009
This review is from: Teaching AIDS (Paperback)
This book might be more relevant for an American school teacher, but I am teaching AIDS education in Africa and it didn't have any useful information. Plus, the book was published about 13 yrs ago, so I would recommend something a little more up to date. I guess thats my own fault though for not looking a little closer before purchasing. Luckily I didn't pay much for it. I would VERY HIGHLY recommend "The Invisible Cure" by Helen Epstein for anyone wanting to know more about AIDS in Africa, especially if you are going over there for AIDS or STD related work.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best--very practical and thorough!, November 20, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Teaching AIDS (Paperback)
As an educator of young men and women, I found this book to demystify much of the unknown about this difficult topic. Helpful. Thorough. Complete. A great book. Just what I needed!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best guide I've read to prevent HIV/AIDS in young peopl, February 20, 1998
This review is from: Teaching AIDS (Paperback)
Douglas Tonks takes the educator through many necessary steps in order to achieve a classroom conducive to HIV/AIDS prevention discussions. As a teacher trainer and AIDS educator, I have found his text very useful and sensitive to the realities we face in the classroom. Please translate to Spanish!
